NICK ACA

I took this video during one of the workshops our theater group had. It was a very good workshop conducted by my very own sister, Honey. It was also during this workshop that I met Nick Aca. A very down to earth, humble but multi-talented person. He is a visual artist venturing into the performing arts. But what I have on video is another talent of Nick which I find really unique. Imagine a person can whistle and create unique sounds and tunes by simply whistling? Hmmm... Very extraordinary... I have not found any other person who can do that...

Anyway, Nick Aca was also the one who designed our set during THE VAGINA MONOLOGUES of VDAY 2008. And his interpretation of TVM is that of birth and rebirth... If you have seen the show you will really be amazed at how it was depicted. It was rather a bold move, yet truthful in the very sense of the message of the show. Nick has joined many national and international competitions to which his art work wins the trophy or comes out as a runner up. Indeed this is very promising. But what I specifically like about Nick is his character. Even with his accomplishments, he has remained humble and grounded. I salute you dear friend...

Oh, by the way, we were supposed to record a better video on his "Whistle", but unfortunately, I have not seen Nick anymore. He is probably very busy being one of the curators of the museum at CU...

Some stories about Nick Aca can be found at Sunstar.com.ph, some written by Kelly Ramos-Palaganas of the Mindanao Current, and some of his art works can be found at the site of Gabs Medina at gabsmedina.com, and of course some street performances of Nick Aca can be found online. Oh, he also has one story written by ABS CBN...an environmental protest that he did where he dressed in nothing but white paint while pushing a cart full of mud from one of CDO's flashfloods.. Way to go Nick... Visual Arts & Performing Arts combined...plus a heart for nature... I am pretty sure you have really made a statement during that event.
