It Is Important

Now that online tasks and gigs are my source of income in this online business that we do, the only office equipment that is inseparable to me is the computer. Whether it's a laptop or a desk top, it is what I would use everyday. And if someone challenges me to exchange all others or give up my computer for something, then I won't be giving up my computer. I can live without the rest, but not without the computer-- redundant, but that is the truth!

Why should I give up what is important? Unless it is a matter of life and death, then only then will I give it up to save a life.

Cadayunan Primary School: CDO Bloggers Outreach Project

Our group, Cagayan de Oro Bloggers (CDOBloggers), will have an outreach and feeding program to a newly opened public primary school in Besigan, which is 52 kilometers away from the city proper and most of the people in the area are farmers with no regular transportation except dump trucks provided by the city government to help the people transport their farm products.

Before Cadayunan Primary School was approved last March 2011, the students had to walk 12 kilometers everyday, to and from the nearest school and this resulted to in-attendance. Most of them skipping school and eventually stopping before the school year would end. Cadayunan Primary School allows residents of Besigan to have access to primary education. Currently the school has 60-80 primary pupils and 2 teachers. But since they have just started operating in July of this year, the school is in dire need of learning materials for the pupils as well as teaching materials for the teacher to effectively guide and teach these eager kids. Each of the members of Cagayan de Oro Bloggers have already committed to help through cash and in-kind donations. We are looking into donating books and other materials that may be beneficial to the learning process of the pupils. Surely all the contributions will go a long way. This would be a wonderful early Christmas gift for them too.

CDObloggers‘ objective is to donate books and other supplementary learning materials and conduct a feeding activity there on December 2, 2011. CDOBloggers members has pledged a Php 300.00 contribution each which would be for the books and materials (Php250) and Php 50 for the feeding activity.

We would like to appeal to every kindhearted Kagay-anon, or anyone for that matter, for any support you can contribute. Please email us at cdobloggersinc@gmail.com if you wish to help or take part of this outreach. And to our fellow bloggers and netizens we also accept donations through paypal (francis.siason@gmail.com). Your $3 to $5 will surely go a long way. The last time we did a project like this (involving money donations through paypal or cash) was way back January 2009 when majority area of CDO was heavily flooded due to over spilling of water to major rivers in the city. We also made a post about the project (The $3 Campaign for the Flash Flood Victims).

You could also opt to donate in kind school materials like books, notebooks, writing and coloring materials, etc. As well as food and drinks for the feeding program. Deadline of contributions is on November 30, 2011.

Another Breather..

One of the things I plan to do this December is to travel somewhere where I have not yet been to. My aunt and her family are going to Leyte, my grandma's place of birth, and we sure would like to join them at this invitation. Traveling allows me to think and unwind. It will also allow me to relax. Although I sometimes get relaxation by playing online games and bingo from online bingo sites, still I find that traveling at another place is a good excuse to stand up and walk away from my online life, temporarily. But the, with my laptop with me, who needs that excuse, hahaha.. I can work and play at the same time, anywhere, anytime. That's perhaps the beauty of this online life.

An old friend of mine buzzed me the other night, at Facebook, and asked me where I am in the world now. I wonder why she thought I have left the country. True, I have traveled, but it was a temporary thing. I love traveling. She also asked me where I am connected and I told her I work online. And guess what... She got interested as well. She must have taken some interest when I mentioned that with online work, you can be anywhere and still get to do your job. Like when I was in Singapore, I did the shopping, touring and food sampling in the morning or evenings when I am not busy doing my online tasks. It was amazing because I have covered quite a lot and I have enjoyed such breather. I am looking forward to the next one. Ahh, I am hoping that the next vacation will be another one that I shall not forget.. A nationwide tour is nice, as I know we have lots of beautiful places here, but international trips are welcome too. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Weight Loss Strategies that are Healthy and Effective

A lot of people are either tired or frustrated having to try different weight loss programs only to realize that it doesn’t work. With a waste of time, effort and money, frustration starts to kick in. Now that more and more individuals are paying close attention to their health, one could easily notice the sudden increase of diet plans and work out routines all claiming to provide their customers with the fastest and safest way to lose weight.

But how could you tell the real from the fake? The first thing that you should have is an understanding about the diet program. Keep in mind that there is no one program that will work for all types of weight issues. Sure it’s tempting to try the one that you saw on the television after their model lost a lot of weight in no time. But do no get easily fooled by these marketing campaigns. Still the best thing to do is to consult a physician first before trying a diet plan.

When starting a new program give your body some time to adjust. Do not expect to see dramatic results right away as your system would need to adjust first on the changes. Learn how to eat healthy. An effective weight loss plan involves both diet and exercise. Start by avoiding the unhealthy snacks and junk foods. Come up with a meal plan that will suit your schedule and lifestyle.

Always include fruits and vegetables on your meals. Starving yourself in order to lose weight is also a misconception that should be avoided. Going hungry will only force you to eat more on your next meal. So it is better to eat small portion at a regular time interval. Lastly, set your short term and long term goals in order to keep motivated.

Mangoes

I have grown up loving Mangoes and eating them ripe or unripe. Over the years, as new discoveries offer new ways of presenting Mangoes. From Mango juice to Mango candies to dried Mangoes for snacking..and on and on the list could go on. Naturally, sweet mangoes produce sweet products. And I swear, munching on crunchy sweet mangoes is nothing more than just a dream. Unless you find the right Mangoes. Guimaras mangoes are sweet, and so they are good for Mango Puree and all other sweet products. Green ones are good for green mango shake. Ahh.. and that mangoe in between, is just crunchy and sweet.. I once had some when I was still living in Cebu. Today, however, I saw some images of the african mango online, and I was totally floored because I was salivating. Hahaha..

Then I learned that such kind of Mangoes are sold and made into slimming tea and pills. Ha! I bet munching in African Mangoes can also make one trim down? I wonder..

Ukay Lingerie?

So everything is expensive these days. So many things account to that. First, you havehe price of oil, then the lack of budget due to lack of employment of underemployment. Ha! So many reasons, I suppose. And with the lack of budget arise a new trend in shopping, which caters to those who have less budget. The Ukay-ukay. These are actually relief goods that enter into Asia and has become a lucrative business. I have learned from friends here in the Philippines that not only dresses, bags and shoes can be found at the Ukay stands but also inexpensive lingerie, imagine that!

Sure I have seen bags, clothes, shoes but not lingerie! Something about that just gives me the creeps. I mean, lingerie of someone else... that's highly unimaginable. But because money sucks big time, well, people just buy them.

Now, if people just look for ways to earn, then maybe they can start buying from the department stores too. Don't get me wrong. I have a few Ukay items as well, but not lingerie! I would buy bags or some tops, but not lingerie. No matter how you wash it, considering you do it my way, it still wouldn't be clean enough to wear. Umm.. But this is just me..

Where Did You Watch the Pacquiao-Marquez 3?

Watching Manny Pacquiao's fights seem to be a happy thing for us Filipinos. We may not be there at the ringside which costs $1200 a seat, but still we manage to get the best seats for the LIVE telecast. Take for example this photo taken by Ronald Zapatos of the Pacquiao-Marquez 3 where people in Ozamiz watched it at the Ozamiz City Gymansium.

Or this one here in Cagayan de Oro, with a buffet lunch at Hotel Del Rio. It was actually fully packed at their Sunset Terrace,Executive and Plazoleta Gay Function halls. What better way to watch than enjoy a sumptuous Filipino Buffet, right?

Photo from Hotel Del Rio Facebook page
Here's another one courtesy of a former Congressman.. The Manny Pacquiao vs Juan Manuel Marquez 3 is truly that worth watching? That even people midst the heat, would go and watch---

Shared by a friend at Facebook
I am sure that like all previous fights of Manny Pacquiao, certain barangays have prepared for a free screening and that, some neighbors too would gladly share their pay per view with people in their community. And just like what I mentioned in my previous posts, some families have their get together at this time too, thus making it a Manny Pacquiao fight party, lol..

So where did you watch the Manny Pacquiao vs Juan Manuel Marquez fight? And what do you think of the result?
Pacquiao threw 578 punches connecting with 176 while Marquez threw 436 connecting with only 138. Pacquiao threw 304 jabs connecting with 59 to Marquez's 182 connecting with only 38 . Pacquiao threw 274 power punches connecting with 117 while Marquez threw 254 connecting with only 100.
