"Megan's Law"

Have you ever wondered what it would feel like to live amongst criminals? For the non-discriminating, all accepting types of persons, perhaps that would not pose a problem. But for the most of us who are cautious and conscious of our security especially if it were the welfare of our families we are talking about, it would be good to know who to make friends with and who to avoid, for the safety and security of our loved ones. Do you agree?

Anyway, I came across a blog which talked about "Megan's Law". What is this law all about?

I read that the law was named after Megan Kanka, the girl who was kidnapped and brutally raped and killed by a known sexual offender,(known to the Police, but not to the public) who lives just across the Kanka home. Had the Kanka Family known of the fact that their neighbor have had a track record of sexual offenses, Megan could have been protected. So, under Megan's Law, all sexual offenders shall be registered and such record will be made public so that the public can be protected in case the sexual offender moves to their community, before he/she could get to the next victim. It will be used to track down the offenders movement across the country.

I think this law is good. Sexual Predator Search may come in handy when and if the need arises. I just hope the law will not be abused in any other way as to conceal a truth.
