THE MENSQUARE--my favorite band...

When I was in college, I was a part of the Xavier University College Glee Club and the XU Chapel Aides. And in those organizations I have met and made friends with very interesting people, who are talented and are "famous" in their own right...and that includes me also, lol... All these years, I can't help but wonder where the others have gone, where they have settled and what they are busy with at the present moment...except for a few who have been exchanging emails or friendster/facebook/myspace hi's and hellos...one particular group, which was composed of members from both organizations, which I have come to love so much is The Mensquare. A group of male singers, who started out by singing song popularized by SHAI, BOYZ2MEN and all other male bands popular in their own genre. From school pageants to school events and programs, The Mensquare was never absent, people loved them so much they were always asked or requested to render a number or two. Then they ventured out of the school, into the city and the entire Misamis Oriental. Offers were coming from everywhere. They have had concerts, gigs and mall shows in and out of town, out of the country even. In fact, they were almost there--- a recording contract at hand but unfortunately turned the other way for some reasons I am not so sure whether I should discuss here or not, after all, the guys are my friends and I love them dearly like my brothers. And perhaps I will not be able to give the full details, it might get misinterpreted, so never mind. Anyhow, here are a few pictures of them and the transitions that happened...

Original members of The Mensquare: Erwin Supremo, Walther Mañus, Heracleo Belisario and Wyllmer Mañus...When Erwin announced to the group that he was quitting to give in to the demands of his studies in Nursing at that time, Jasper Saraban was to take his place. Then when Walther Mañus had to leave the group to further his career as a DJ, and Erwin changed his career path from studying the very complicated and hectic world of Nursing, he came back so there were four guys again. Unfortunately, Erwin decided, again, to leave the group because, being a gwapito and a tall handsome guy with manners and all (he was my forever-crush so let me just ellaborate on those facts, lol...), he was hired by Philippine Airlines. So Leo, Wyllmer and Jasper had to look for another person to complete the square...and then they found who else, but heartrob Mark Bautista, my baby brother in Pasundayag Theater.--small world? Well, I just happen to live in a world full of talented individuals...lol... that's another story so let's just stick with The Mensquare trail...wink..wink...

Even before Mac2x (that's how we call him-Mark B.) won second place and Sarah Geronimo as the champion in the singing contest, he was already busy with its preparations that the guys had to find another person to take his place. This time, it was a lady, I think she was the cousin of Jasper (Jasper's family are also talented, even the babies in the family line can sing whilst inside their mother's womb, LOL), I forgot her name, but she had to leave for a singing stint in another country so again, they sought another person, and this time, it was my cousin Anna Aguilar, the J.Lo of the Aguilar clan...hehehe... The night of the singing championship, The Mensquare (with my cousin) were with us during the Luau for the Alumni Celebration of ACSAT CDO. Anyway, that too is another story, LOL...whew... going back to the story now. So after my cousin, there were others, I do not know who they were anymore since I too had to move and go on with my life, I lost track of my favorite band. All I know is that the group exists no longer as The Mensquare have moved, and its members have moved on. From a boy band singing slow acapellas to pop, until officially they became a band complete with the drummers and the keyboardist and sang fast songs and dance hits while their audience danced to their groove.

Today, I can only see them in friendster, that explains all the links I have attached here. But, somehow, even if The Mensquare is no longer there, I see that my friends have ventured into the career path that they each wanted to venture into. As the saying goes, one can never take away the talent and the desire of a talented individual...wherever you place him or her, he or she will really excel and that's just that... I am happy that the guys are still performing, sharing their talents to the world, giving the country and families, the pride and their fans, well... I am just happy that they are happy with their lives..

You go guys... maybe you would like to consider recording "the album" together again, someday, somehow--- well, we'll see...
