Philippine Bills

photo found online through Google search
That's the new batch of Philippine currencies...Well, they were not our currencies two decades ago.. With all these bills coming and going, one will think that we should at least keep some for remembrance sake.. At least I have the old coins.. But no bills kept--- I hope I did..

The Blind Musician...

I don't know with you, but I always find it amazing to hear blind persons playing the guitar or other instruments..  The guy above was playing an electric guitar with his own amplifier.. It was really nice to hear his music.. Being situated meters away from church, I suppose he does not really cause any disturbance, so I think it is okay.. People give him money as they pass by and some even stop to listen and clap..

I also learned that vendors and all others, including this blind musician are paying P 10 for their slot around church grounds..

If this guy can be so resourceful, what can you do to improve? In need of inspiration, look no further than your computer. Check out electrician school online or phr certification and see what possibilities open up for you.

The Pad..

We have finally found the pad to move into.. Although we are still waiting for the current occupants to move out, we were already done seeing the place.. It was okay. Lili and I could best thrive in it even if the space is kinda small because it has everything that we would need. Plus, it is near her school, so we get to save on time and energy every morning everyday.. Perhaps, she can also enroll in dance and ballet, as she wants to, because by then, we would not worry about commuting and being home after practice to be able to study for the next day's tests.. Being near the school and the city is indeed a great advantage for kids and adults alike..

I also checked the bathroom as well as the undermount kitchen sink and I am so happy that it does fit my needs. I can wash dishes the way I want to plus, like all the undermount kitchen sinks that I have used previously, I can also use it doubly to hand wash clothes.. By the way, that sink is not a Mr. Direct sink, but I think it will do fine.. In the future though, when I build my home, I will surely get a Mr. Direct sink in all kitchen and lavatories.. Why? Because Mr. Direct sinks are good.. Not only aesthetically but also with its use.. It's durable and safe, even for kids.. Plus it takes a long time because you could think of replacing it.. How I knew? The last house I lived in has Mr. Direct sinks..

The comfort room is also good. Small, but it's okay.. Over all, I think spending P 4500 a month for that is not at all a bad idea..

Post Cards, Gift Cards and Printing Services

Gift Card Printing is one hobby that can actually make us earn good clean money.. Of course, we learn new things like Online Printing, as well as designing. We can also create new designs for Plastic Card Printing that may also be a good income generating hobby.. As my grandma used to say, anything you enjoy that gives you money is a really good investment.. But of course, if it is used for monetary gain, you will never tire of it, unlike all others..

Anyway, I am also into post crossing and perhaps I could also print my own post cards since I did not find any post card that represents Cagayan de Oro City.. I would really like to give away or send post cards that best represents the place I am at.. I asked my cousins to find Butuan City post cards too, as I plan to give out post cards from my birth place.. But then, if there are not any, I will really have myself print my own.. That way, I could customize and add my website url too.. That would be lovely, I guess..

But of course, I am still hoping to find post cards that I am needing for this new hobby..

I Wish it were Cool Today!

I wonder how it would feel to go snowboarding.. I could imagine a chilly air, and so snowboarding gear need to be worn, complete with a snow goggle to match the outfit.. Ahh.. But then, there isn't a handful of snow here in the Philippines.. Humid and almost to the point of breaking my head-- so hot!

I wish it were cooler today. I wish it would rain.. I wish the wind will start blowing.. I wish to be back at the Kapatagan, where Tibolo Village is.. It is cool there, with fresh air everywhere. ahh.. I really really love it there..

Hmmm.. I am actually craving for my sister's Home made Durian Ice Cream..

Started Post Crossing

I have just started post crossing, and I am really excited about everything that I have learned from my newly found friends.. I learned that two of them use infrared heater at their respective homes. That one of them, the twelve year old from Moldova, would love to receive Anime post cards, and the student of business from Russia is excited to get dance post cards.. OMG! I am excited as well..

The extra post cards  I bought already have owners and I am getting them ready for the post office to be sent.. Post crossing is indeed so much fun..

I was a Wrestling Fan..

When I was younger, I remember watching Wrestling Mania every weekend. My favorite wrestler at that time was Hulk Hogan.. My uncle and I would very much like to see his stunts and how he was able to defeat his match.. During summers, we would sleep late just to watch wrestling mania on video.. Of course, Hulk Hogan has long retired..

Today, I read that there is now Wrestle Mania with newer wrestlers who are unknown to me.. That is because I do not watch wrestling matches anymore..

That Indonesian Plate..

This was a plateful of Indonesian treat from one of the food stalls at Lucky Plaza.. It was lunch that time and my sister and I went down to buy food. Since we told the attendant that we are also a tenant, being that my uncle owns one of the businesses at the main floor, they agreed to place my food in a plate for take out, other wise, it would be in a styro which I do not find healthy for me and the environment.. I do not exactly recall how each food tasted, but in that very plate, I know I remember liking only the curried chicken and the crispy fish.. The vegetables were soggy and tasted funny.. With that diet everyday, I am sure I will not need fat burners, as I technically did not even finish 1/4th of the plate.. When we returned the plate, they asked why there were still so much food, and I laughed while telling that I changed my mind..

Youth To Promote Health and Wellness in Communities: Unilab Initiative

I am so happy about what I have learned today. I read that United Laboratories, Inc. (UNILAB) has this project where they call on the youth to help improve the health and wellness of the country, by promoting it one community at a time, through its Unilab Ideas Positive. It is an idea-generation contest on social marketing programs that address health and wellness issues in communities.

So, do you have an idea? It could actually work once it is being funded.. Unilab Ideas Positive program was actually launched as a response to the increase in community issues of hygiene and sanitation, issues on nutrition, problems in disease prevention and intervention, and most importantly, environmental care and protection. On its second year, Unilab hopes to achieve more than before, it continues to believes that these concerns are more effectively addressed when two or more groups or organizations are working together in true Bayanihan spirit, the Filipino trait of working together to achieve a common goal. That, by the way explains how the logo looks..

So why the youth? Well, Unilab believes in the youth's creativity, idealism and sense of social purpose to find fresh and innovative solutions to emerging and recurring health and wellness issues in communities. This event is not just a venue to be heard, but more importantly, a chance to empower the youth  to turn their ideas into reality.

To make it so, a seed fund of Php100,000 shall be awarded to the winning team to implement their social marketing program for their chosen community. Two runner-up groups shall be given Php75,000 each to do the same for their programs. Last year, the students from the University of Asia and the Pacific (UA&P) bagged the grand prize for their idea, "farm-in-the-city concept", where they taught hydroponics gardening to mothers in Barangay San Joaquin in Pasig City for their own sustainable source of vegetables within the community. The said mothers made their first harvest of lettuce and Kangkong in April this year.  With this  knowldege, the local government of Pasig City has expressed a desire to replicate the same program in other barangays. Amazing! This information made me cry..

Because of  its successful run last year, the program has now expanded from Metro Manila only to include nearby provinces like Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Bulacan, and Rizal. If you are one of the many interested students, you can form a team of five and submit your idea through www.unilabideaspositive.com until July 18. Ten semi-finalists will be chosen to undergo a 3-day camp in August where social marketing thought-leaders led by 2009 CNN Hero of the Year Efren Penaflorida and social marketing guru Dr. Eduardo ‘Ned’ Roberto will help teams to firm up their social marketing plans. Frome there, five finalist teams will be chosen to defend their plans by Sept 18 before a multi-sector panel of judges that will pick the team that wins the seed money from Unilab.

So, what are you waiting for? Join now..

Burn Out

I never thought I would reach this stage in my online career. It used to be exciting, but now, I feel that I am not well compensated because of what happened with Blogitive, and all other paid to post companies I write for.. Blogitive didn't only cheat me with $205 of hard earned money, but also wasted my time and abused me by the free advertising they got since December 2010 for the posts that have been approved and now will no longer be paid for they have disappeared in their system.. $205 is a lot of money already.. I could have bought myself mothers rings for that amount.. Whew.. Now, I feel that I am losing interest in everything because apparently, a company that I love is also losing its niceties towards us, their bloggers.. It may be racism, it may also be just their company coping with bankruptcy.. Whatever the case, we still should be treated nicely..

If things will not go better until August, I am resigning as a paid post blogger..

Nice...

If you are looking for a great value for your money, and the best stainless steel kitchen sink, then you just have to look for the best in terms of quality, durability and price. Mr Direct is one of the name brands in kitchen sinks, especially if you are looking for stainless steel kitchen sinks for a home project or renovation.. The owner of the previous house I lived in believed in high quality standard parts of his home, and that's where I saw the brand used.. Lovely.. Unfortunately, I had to give up the unit as I left for Singapore last year.. Now, I wish to rent the place again, but a family has already lived in it.. Better luck next time for me..  And lucky for them, they will have a great time showing off the kitchen to their friends. The sink there is wide and so comfortable to use. That's why I always do routines in the kitchen because of the Mr. Direct sink.

Party People, Need a Party Registry?

It's summer in other parts of the world. And with summer comes the all nighter's partying.. Students may have sleepovers and some in house parties, while others, I am sure will go some place else.. If one is looking for nightclubs in NYC, the best thing to do is look into the party registry in every locality.. I think I read somewhere that NYC nightclubs as well as Boston nightclubs, and especially top Chicago nightclubs are listed in this party registry site.. I have yet to find out what that site is to relay to you my dear readers...

I think it is a good idea to have to look for a party place in just one sitting, regardless where you are in the world. That way, even if you have not reached your destination, you have already made the right itinerary and plans on how to go about your travels.. If ever you are in a rush and in need to treat friends and relatives to a cozy night place or a hip trendy bar, I am sure it would be nice to compare as many choices before finally deciding where to head to.. This way is also economical as you are able to budget time and money, especially if you take care of the ride and the tab..

Let's face it, it is better to come prepared that not know what to expect in a place, especially if that will be your first time to try it, both the place as well as the over all experience... so instead of just asking your friends, who may not have enough time and information, it is actually very practical to have a party registry.. In other countries, party registries also allow for online bookings and itineraries.. That sounds cool, right?

Letrang R: Relihiyoso/a

This week's entry is:

People who are relihiyoso or relihiyosa are often submissive to the call of the church and God.. But I believe that sometimes, people who say they are religious are not at all faithful, as they backslide and their trust and confidence in God sometimes withers with every blow of hardships and pain..

But then, who are we to say? I wish to respect every person's relationship with his or her God, or source of eternal spiritual strength.. Faith, after all, does not really talk about specific religions and churches.. It is innate in the person and so, people who always like to interfere with other people's lives should NOT at all find fault if they could not see the person in church or is not a part of their church.. It is NOT always a guarantee that when one goes to church regularly and has been actively participating in church activities, that he or she is all GOOD.. Most times, WAR is waged because of fanaticism and religious discrimination.. Goodness is innate in every man. What makes him bad in the eye of another is the fact that he or she is different, practices a different religion, and have different beliefs.. Ignorance and having a closed minded sense breeds all these negativism..

Almost Addicted..

The other day, I tried bidding at one of the bid sites where you get really nice and expensive items for as low as P 1..

See that image above? Well, I fell for that P 5000 SM Gift Card, and hoped that if I win, I could buy Lili other things that she may want to get.. And the first time it said "Going", and I won, I thought I was the winner already.. But then people didn't stop bidding still so there was the recurring 15 seconds interval that went until forever, until finally, a winner won the bidding..

I bought 10 bids for P 300 twice, because I was determined to win.. But then I realized later on, that I may have to spend more on the bids than in winning for there is actually a strategy that some bidders follow. I checked the winners and most of the ones bidding against my bids have won previously already---

I called it quits when finally the last bid didn't get me anything.. Wasted P 600 and my time. But a lesson that I have learned is that, while we were busy bidding on one item, there were other items that we could have won at even cheaper rates because people were not into them.. hahaha..

Will I try again? I am not sure.. Maybe! We'll see..

Thanks Ninong Father

It was rather unexpected to see Lili's godfather, the priest, at Robinson's this afternoon, on our way to Suncellar to pay for our cellphone and Internet bill. My friend Erdman back in the Convergys days in Cebu is now a full pledged servant of God, who lives at the Bishop's house.. and celebrates mass at the Saint Augustine Cathedral..
But today, God sent him to be Lili's source of the fulfillment of her wish exactly on her birthday..  Ha! I didn't notice him until he called out, in the name calling that I now use online... Mommy Dharlz, and that's where all the commotion started.. such a short notice, and such a fast turn of events.. Of course, we were catching up in the middle of it all, lol..
So Lili got her doll, that I am supposed to buy her this weekend.. Saved me a hundred short for a grand.. But then, the fashion fairy friend is not at all complete yet--- so I think I will still need to buy her another one..

Anyway, it was so nice to see Dong after all these years.. I often see him at church when celebrating mass, but I felt that he was too serious to be disturbed in the house of God.. So today, it was really more like a kindred reunion of some sort... Ah.. we had fun back then-- all twenty of us.. Tonight, we shall meet online for a blogging 101 tutorial, and Mommy Djen will join us too..

Later...

Filipinos All Over..

I never thought that a Tagalog Mass can take place outside the Philippines, but I heard one while I was in Singapore, and it was really nice..
During my visit in Singapore, I was amazed at the fact that churches there already celebrate Tagalog Masses for Filipinos. I guess that is the reason why a lot of Filipinos go there. The feeling that in a more progressive country like Singapore, there is room for a Filipino.. That feeling of acceptance is truly something that can positively reinforce the growing yearning of every Pinoy who wishes to work and live there..
And why not? Filipinos who go there and become part of the workforce are exceedingly more productive. Filipinos can communicate well, and can actually adapt to whatever environment he or she is placed into.  It is a good thing that religion is respected and openly accepted as per tribal group or culture and tradition in Singapore. Unlike here in the Philippines that some fanatics claim they are the only ones who can be saved and call themselves as the only "Christians", as they compare themselves and discriminate those other Christians who belong to a different denomination.
I took the above photo after the mass, when everyone else was outside communicating with most parishioners.. If I didn't see any Hindi women dressed in their Sari, I would think that I was in the Philippines at that time. A lot of Filipinos who drop by Singapore may have taken a payday advance to spend on a shopping spree during his or her holiday. But one thing is certain--- that when he or she will work there, he or she, need not apply in loans, as the salary can allow for a better life. That was what I have observed while in Singapore. Of course, that was what I mostly hear from the people I came to know in that parish. Before the year ends, my other sister and I shall be in Singapore once again. I can't wait to visit this parish again.

After the Storm...

I feel for the victims of the tornado that hit yesterday. In just a span of three minutes, everything that the people built in years, got destroyed in just a snap of their fingers.. Even if they will take on payday loans, it won't be enough to cover the damages. I think it will take years to rebuild what the tornado has destroyed. Perhaps if we are simply talking about tuition or a simple home improvement project, then payday loans no credit check can be easy to avail of. Also, the amount would be lesser than what is necessary to rebuild the homes. If people will take on loans to spend for the said rehabilitation, I think paying for the loan will take years because of the high amount needed..

Surely, these happenings can be a wake up call for all of us. That nothing is indeed permanent in this life. That nothing that we have worked so hard to build, can stay as they are--- unchanged by time or nature's fury.. That nature gets back from us what we have taken away from her.. Yes, the storm Falcon is out of the country already, and like all others that came before it, has left many people homeless and worried about their economic and financial standing.. In turn, it makes stress easy to come by. It makes stress the visible enemy of the time. Stress that could evolve into other symptomatic disorders of some sort. And while most of us have a roof upon our heads, warm food to ease hunger, plenty of nutritious food on our table, many are left pining for a safer place to call their own. I feel for our brothers and sisters who need assistance right now..

Bulingit Corner

Many moms and fellow bloggers from PMC have ordered clothes, toys and stuff from Bulingit Corner. Right now I see that most items are for toddlers and kids, but maybe soon after, they will have urban clothes even for adults.. The online business is based in Facebook, yet it has grown bigger with lots of mommy followers.

I think it's because their items are quite nice, really.. An example of which is one of the items I ordered for Lili..  Look at this dress below, isn't it adorable?

And best of all, I paid for it using paypal.. It is a convenient way for me to shop.. Love the clothes I have bought, and I am sure my Lili will love them as well when she sees them on hand. She was actually the one who chose most of the clothes bought online, and this time is not at all an exemption. I think the lovely dresses will fit her well too.. We are excited for their arrival come Saturday...

Loans Here and There

I am sure by now, parents and guardians are feeling better and relieved that the enrollment season is over.. Some may have saved enough for their kids' enrollment, while others may have enrolled in cash advance loans.. Well, it can't be denied that payday loans in georgia or payday loans in maryland can be very helpful in times of need. The good thing about it is that, it can be deducted from one's salary come payday.. That allows the lender enough time to pay up without hassle. Taking a loan in times of emergencies is good, but taking loans even when there are no emergencies can be devastating in the future. I know of some people who like to take a loan so they can go on vacations. And worse, they on loans, not just from one agent but from a multiple source. So when it's time to pay up, the problem piles up, as there are not enough funds to cover all of them.

In the even that he or she will be called in court for a summon regarding a non-payment complaint, he or she will then be forced to pay up--- although, here in the Philippines, some people would say that no one goes to jail because of their debts. True, but the embarrassment is not a good thing, that which is always attached when one is sued in court.. I just wish people would learn from previous mistakes and take on loans when they have the capacity to pay, otherwise, they should not think about taking a loan at all.

Happy Father's Day, Tatay!

It's 1:30 in the morning, and it's officially, "Father's Day 2011" in the Philippines. I am not sure if it is the same date in other countries. I know in United Kingdom, my cousins told me that it is not, as they have another date to celebrate Father's Day, just like Mother's Day in UK. Anyway, if I have so much money at this time, I am sure to get my father something that he'd really like. Perhaps a new 4WD truck with a trailer hitch to tag along a trailer for camp outs and the like. But then I don't, so maybe later today, I could pick up something small, and simply greet him a wonderful father's day..

Photo taken inside the elevator at Marina Bay Sands Hotel in Singapore

My father deserves a great day today, as he is one of the best fathers in the world. He is NOT perfect like all the best dads who are NOT perfect too...He's quite irritable now because of age, and sometimes too, has difficulty in hearing from afar that we end up making our voices louder than normal, like shouting already (and he thinks we are shouting and not just making him hear us, lol...). But what I truly appreciate is the fact that he keeps reaching out to me, even at times that I have built a wall to shut everyone out.. especially those who only want to hurt me.  We don't talk much at home, for reasons that I keep to myself, but whenever we are at Lili's and River's school, I get to spend time with him and we talk. I may doubt all other relations, but I could never doubt that I am my father's daughter..because he shows me that he is.. He is NOT perfect, but to me, he is perfect. Being a good father (parent) is not only about being able to educate and provide for material things. It is about building bridges to sustain humanity through love, acceptance and understanding. For that, I am lucky.. I love you Tatay! Happy Father's Day!

The Man With The Golden Voice...

My You Tube video hopping this morning led me to watch this video, and I was so amazed at the turn around of events for this man's life...

Indeed God works in mysterious ways. There are always second chances to life. At least this man now can do something better for himself, his family and the community..

Amazing what the social network can do... Much more amazing what the Internet can do--- Agree? (The Original YOU TUBE video that got this man his job is no longer available due to copyright claim...)

The Review

My sister is pretty serious about her review. They have just finished their in-house review, yet, they are still meeting up until the last day before their scheduled board exam takes place. It is quite tough. Much tougher than regularly monitoring a patient monitor for a patient's vital signs. Much complicated than the most complicated case of seizure, and much more tiring than carrying a baby the whole day.  Quite a comparison there, but really, that's how they are reviewing these days.. I pray that she will pass and all her dreams and wishes will come true.
What's more stressful for my sister is that, as a licensed teacher, she is determined to pass another licensed that she is to take an exam for.. I know she can do it.. With prayer and determination, I am positive..

Gold Investments

Do you pay Cash for gold or use some other payment forms? How about Cash for platinum? My friends who have been investing in gold should know what to tell you, should you ask. A lot of people would find ways to earn more or make more of the amount of money that they currently have. Of course, every investments have their specific means and ways to get more money to one's cup. While others would gamble with investments and the risks involved, others find the best investments that somehow lead to a win-win situation. No zero results, if that be the case. Of course, who would want dwindling resources and dying investments? None of us want to lose what we have worked so hard to achieve, right? But what with investments that go down the drain? Bad investments, as how they are often referred to, do not really start from bad. It's the decisions that come along with regards said investments and the decisions taken parallel to options that revolve around them..  It becomes a sad truth that some people simply lose everything they have because they trusted other people, or that they have fallen in someone else's trap..

So before we jump at some investment, we must ask important questions, don't you agree? Always remember that some questions may appear silly, but most times, they are the questions that saves you later on.. If you want to know more about gold investments, ask the experts.. Better safe than sorry..

A Baby Shower To Attend

My kumare, Lili's godmother, is seven months pregnant, and as early as it may seem, we find that giving her baby the baby shower that she planned would best be enjoyed at this time. It's still not a busy time yet, compared to the start of classes, where we all have to deal with our kids' needs. So she told me to wait a while as baby shower invitations shall be sent within the week..

Ah.. That would really be a great time, as Lili and I shall be going back to Cagayan de Oro this week too.  And she's right, after the start of classes, I am sure we all will have less time for things like parties and stuff.. I need to get her baby our gift when we get home.. Lili said she wants it pink..

Misua for the Rainy Day..

For these two memes, my entry would be: Misua or Miswa in Bisaya.. We usually cook Misua or Miswa during rainy days.. It is actually a Chinese delicacy where thin rice noodles are used to cook into soup.. You either saute minced pork or tuna flakes with onions and garlic in a little oil before adding in water to boil, add the rice noodles and then simmer..

I love making Misua every time Lili asks me to do so because when it's raining, and she asks for this, I know she will be eating a lot.. And I like that because sometimes Lili is a picky eater..
