RECIPES

I love to cook and bake. That is a skill I have learned by heart. And that is also a skill that my family is famous for. I love to cook for friends and family. When I want to please someone or some people I usually do so by cooking. And yet, there are times that I am able to accidentally please people who I did not expect to be able to eat what I have prepared on the table. When I was younger, my mother would always grade my cooking. I would get an 80% as the lowest, if the food is not as good as my mother's taste buds' liking... I find that as a challenge. I always want my mom to give me a 90% or even a 100%.. but she never gives me a perfect score. She said, there should always be room for improvement in cooking. With that in mind, I begun to experiment on food recipes that have been with us for generations, carefully hand written by my mother's grandmother handed down from generation to generation. My mom did not give me her recipes yet, but I have known how to cook our family's favorite dishes by heart. And because I experiment, I sometimes give them a twist... Oh how I love the faces of my siblings when I serve the food on the table.. And my dad's too.. But my mother? She sometimes scolds me for experimenting. She says it's a waste of the ingredients if the people in the house won't like the food prepared. But of course, my father and siblings would always prove my mother wrong, lol...

It's funny because when I was in high school, I was so sure I wanted to become a Culinary Arts Teacher. I wanted to teach people how to cook and develop such passion for cooking. But hey, that's one course I was never even able to start due to the fact that there is no school that offers such course in the University level here in Cagayan de Oro City. Anyhow, I still ended up as a teacher anyway..lol...

Right now, cooking has simply become a hobby of sorts. I still compile recipes for Zarelle's sake.. and I am still hoping I could cook for the person I love one of these days...
