Before the Philippine Elections 2010 transpired there had been rumors that the Iglesia Ni Christo will be supporting Noynoy's candidacy, and with that in mind, he is surely going to win the presidential race. According to some people who talked about this issue at the party I attended days before the elections, no candidate has ever lost in any election post once the INC is behind him or her. I simply listened as the group talked about religious groups supporting candidates during national elections for I really didn't have a clue about this. SGI- Philippines do not endorse any candidate and would only pray for a more peaceful elections to transpire. I guess Buddhists in the Philippines do not really go beyond that level of support. Although some leaders and members are directly related with local candidates from opposing parties, still, campaigning for candidates during meetings are never loudly expressed. I have not known that these facts were very much pronounced in the previous elections. It was always, the CBCP, The El Shaddai, Ang Dating Daan, The Born Again Christians, and yes INC who were always sought for support of candidates but I could not really believe that it is rather very effective for a particular candidate to win with just one religious group to back him up.
Today at plurk, a plurk pal plurked a link of a specific area in the Philippines known to be the stronghold of INC members. See the result below:
