Thoughts of Bang Lu Min, Survivor of the Quirino Bloodbath 2010

I read this postscript from Facebook and I would like to share this here.

Mr. Mendoza was already upset even before he saw on television what the policemen did to his brother. The other tourists who remained inside the bus were complaining. Wei Ji Jiang wanted to go to the bathroom. Dao Chi Yu was hungry and the rest were just groaning and whining like they have forgotten that our lives rest in Mr. Mendoza's hands. The hostage taker, as you know him was really nice. He treated us okay and even let the elders and the children leave the bus. He said your policemen treated him unfairly. He was a policeman too and was accused of doing something he had no knowledge of. But your government didn't listen so he used us to get everyone's attention. Things would have never turned for the worst if he didn't see how his family was dragged out of their house and taken into custody. He was watching the news all the time as we huddled around each other behind the bus. He shouted some words in your language then started shooting in the air. A girl about my age started screaming. Mr. Mendoza demanded her to stop but she didn't understand English. God, he had to slash her neck with a knife just to put her to rest. Her boyfriend who tried to hit him was shot in the head. Tension was rising. You can see in his face how scared and confused he was. The bus driver ran away leaving him alone with strangers from a distant land. I can see him walking across the aisle, sometimes pointing his machine gun to one of the tourists. But he tried his best not to hurt us, especially those who really cooperate. I guess its in your nature not to inflict pain on others unless it was necessary. I remember him saying that he will free us before sundown and implored us to forget everything when we return home. But his words don't matter now. The policemen were trying to force their way in, while we all lied down to shield ourselves from bullets. Mister Mendoza blindly shoots at his enemies which I think kept them from rescuing us. I hear sobs under the chairs. Some were even shouting the names of their loved ones even when the air merely eat their words. Kevin Tang tried to escape when the glass door was was shattered, but one shot and he slumped on the floor with blood gushing from his mouth. Heavy rain pitter-pattered on the rooftop. In old Chinese saying, it means an end to a struggle. Finally, somebody was able to open the escape hatch at the back of the bus. Freedom. But I knew Mister Mendoza was still alive. I knew he was just waiting for a chance to strike back at his enemies. So I told those around me not to escape. Let the authorities come for us instead. Then there was gunfire. He was firing at his enemies with a machine gun. Those who were at the escape hatch fled abandoning us once again. It's like a nightmare with no end and to wake up means a certain death. Then somebody from outside the bus threw a canister. It forced out a black smoke that is so painful to the eyes and putrid smelling to the nose. People started screaming. We cannot breathe. Some ran in front of the bus but Mister Mendoza warned them of stray bullets. It was too late. One was hit on the head, the other was hit on the shoulders. Bullets were now flying. Its like the authorities thought we were all dead. Mister Mendoza finally admits his mistake and said sorry to everyone, dead or alive. He then ran towards the front of the bus where he would meet his maker. As he passed by my chair with bullets whistling overhead, I clutched my hand on the velvet curtain and wrapped it around my face. All I could think of was to stay alive - for my child who is waiting for me back in Xinjang.

I know I will survive, I will come home.

Hand Bags for Christmas

In my previous post, I did mention that I am looking for a place where I can buy wholesale handbags. And A friend of mine told me of a place where to get them. They even have designer inspired handbags as well as western theme handbags.. I am so excited. I can't wait to visit that said place.

I did visit a place at Cogon where the merchants are Taiwanese. They sell in wholesale too, but their wares are not at all quite nice. They have a wide array of products ranging from home to beauty and clothing as well as accessories. But I wouldn't buy my gifts from there. The place is quite crowded and unsafe. Plus the fact that the Taiwanese merchants act like Gods and the Filipino workers their slaves. It shouldn't be like that. I guess, if we Filipinos have a heart for our fellowmen, we should not patronize places that these Taiwanese and  Korean merchants sell as they enslave our brothers and sisters. Imagine, at 12 noon, they have not had their lunch breaks yet, while their employers are busy eating their sumptuous food. By patronizing them means, we also allow them to step on us Filipinos.

So the handbags that I plan to buy wholesale should NOT be from there.. Period.

Early Christmas Shopping

I am looking for a place where I can buy wholesale handbags, as I plan to give them away as Christmas gifts come December. I have heard of lots of places to buy wholesale western jewelry as well as wholesale flip flops. But hand bags? I am still in search..

Do you have any idea where I could get them really nice but affordable? And please do not point me to places where the Taiwanese are selling. I will NOT buy from them. I have Chinese friends who sell wholesale items but they have stopped doing that said business a long time ago. Of course, there's also the shops and stalls of our Indian friends, but they are already expensive, I would rather buy from the mall.

Anyhow, why this early for Christmas shopping? Well, it is cheaper and not too crowded for shopping. If I buy November and December, prices are already up and many people would be crowding the places to buy gifts.. Inexpensive toys can be found at DD Toys. I tell you, they have really affordable and quality toys that when you find them in the malls are doubled or triple in price. I bought Lili a pink toy violin for P 110.00 and at the mall, it costs P 325.72-- See the difference? Same kind, same brand..

Need Info

Hey guys, have you heard about the Article Alley? A blogger friend of mine told me that we can get free articles for our blogs there. I do not really need to because I personally update my blogs. But he said it is quite useful. They have lots of topics and well, I did check their site and I found the articles to be quite amazing. But still, I wouldn't use them for my site. I think I will share them with my students for their use.

Ready for the Drive

Going on a long drive entails getting the vehicle ready for the long journey.  The driver must make sure that everything is in place. The tires, the rims, the spare, the tools and of course, the engine itself. Most importantly, the driver herself or himself must be ready psychologically, emotionally and spiritually. Nothing could go wrong with a driver that has everything in order. I learned that from my father.

Whenever we go on long trips, I always see how busy my father would be. Preparing for the very trip means getting the cars checked by his mechanic a day or two before the date. On the night before the trip he will check them again and on the very day before we move forward, final checking still goes on. And when everything is in order, that's when we start for our journey.

Of course, depending on our itinerary, we also prepared for our own stuff to bring. And food is the number one necessity that we could never miss, especially on long drives. Now that we have Lili and River, all the more we prepare for kids should never go hungry on the road. Especially if we will go somewhere that does not have much stores along the way..

Nothing beats being prepared..

Saridon

Bookmark and Share

Have you ever used Saridon before? Do you know what it is and what it is used for? Look at this video I found on You Tube...

Now do you know what Saridon is for? Saridon is a pain killer and it is popular in the Visayas and Mindanao areas. It is mostly embraced by the masses for pain, mainly because of  its very affordable price. Although there have already been lots of warnings about the product's side effects from many newspaper columnists, people still buy them. Columnists researched and wrote that Saridon is not safe, and vigilantly cites Saridon's previous formula which contains phenacetin, as well as its new formulation that contains propyphenazone which can have negative side-effects to its users.  Users never stopped using just because these columnists wrote about them that way.  Another point that was cited is the fact that Saridon is only made available in the Visayas and Mindanao. Why is it only available in these areas? That and many other reasons bring about doubt as to the product's thrust.

I learned that Bayer is the company that manufactures Saridon and they have the following said:
“Bayer HealthCare-Consumer Care would like to assure the public that its Paracetamol, Propyphenazone, Caffeine (Saridon Triple Action) is clinically proven safe and effective pain relief against headache, muscle pain and toothache. Saridon Triple Action has been duly approved by the Food and Drug Administration of the Philippines.”
Well, if that is so, then Bayer should disseminate info about the nature and scope, as well as all necessary information about Saridon so everyone will know about it. At least, if their product is really safe, they should have existing data to counter doubts or at least give people the central idea, pros or cons about the product. Even I, who lives here in Mindanao is not familiar with it until I read a few blog posts about it. When I asked friends in Manila if there is Saridon there, all they could answer is also a question of What is Saridon? And well, this post is my attempt to answer that for them.. further research is required..

Peter of Gemini Traffic Sales

This post involves one specific modus operandi, to extort money from victims. The guy in the photo below is PETER.. Peter of Gemini Traffic Sales.. The company he was said to represent. The experience with Peter is not my own but a few friends who finally learned their lesson the hard way..
The photo above was taken before he was arrested by NBI on a take down. Why? Here's the story:

A certain Marivic was recruited first by this Peter and appointed her as the manager for Gemini Traffic Sales in Cagayan de Oro City. And they operate as what was stated in the ad that was posted at www.istorya.net but the kids, or the college students who applied believed her as she was so convincing because that was also what Peter told her.

But, apart from what was written above, Marivic instructed the kiddies what Peter instructed her. To place the amount of  P 600.00  inside the envelopes of their application letter with transcript of records. It was said to be for their medical. Because apparently they will have to pay a specific center to have drug tests taken as well as all other tests and this said center will only charge P 600 for all the expensive tests. So they went through their 20 days training and was told that they will be paid with it together with their after training salaries.

After a month, I was told that all of them, including Marivic, went to the Police Station to file charges and apparently, a take down was done. They were not paid and they were already thinking of what they were told while they applied, that it may be a hoax..

That is Peter after he was arrested.. There is a matching video but I could not upload it..

Reunion Pix

We had a blast during the birthday of Auntie Vicky mainly because it was a reunion for Ergina-Aguilar siblings as well as with the Aguilar cousins from Passi, Ilo-ilo. It was by far the best time for my father's siblings as they are reunited with glee, and not with sorrow to envelope the get together..

Well, the first time they went to Ilo-ilo, with me as a baby, ages ago, was when someone died. I think it was the funeral of one of my Lolo Peping's siblings. Then, after finding them in the world wide web, and communicating further with the help of YM, FB and Yahoo mail, they finally met again during the wake of another sib of my late Lolo Peping..  So this meeting, like what I said is a better one since no one died..and it coincided with a birthday and vacation for them who are from Finland and UK..

From left to right, eldest to youngest, older, wiser but still young at heart.. Uncle Edwin, My father Dennis, Uncle Willie, Auntie Irma, Auntie Nancy, Auntie Vicky and Auntie Doris.. The siblings were all complete.. But us cousins, we were but a few.. Whew.. hopefully in December, more will be coming home from outside CDO and the country..

You will also find posts about our reunion at my other blogs..

Blog about Super One and win an Android

Have you heard about Globe Super One and the Super One Blogger Contest? I just read about this today and I am so excited to see what is in store for the winning blogger. Imagine, all you have to do is post a blog about Globe Super One and if your entry wins, you will get the Android Phone that Globe is giving away..

So what is this Super One all about? Well, it's the ONE NUMBER that you would call often, or text a lot that your load is consumed just by mere communication with this ONE NUMBER. It could be your husband's or wife's number. It could also be your boyfriend's or girlfriend's number. It could be your son's or your daughter's number-- regardless who owns this number, that is the one super number that takes all your load away...

So Globe has this really great promo, where, you will be able to call and text that special one as often as you want to. And that is on course with Globe's "Super One". It is by far, Super Sulit (most economical) because you can actually choose and pay ONLY for your closest friends and family. Imagine, at P150/month for Postpaid and My Fully Loaded Plan subscribers or at  P175/month for My Super Plan subscribers, you will be able to enjoy this luxury in communication. Exclusive and long hours of connectivity ONLY for the most important people in your life. It is also Super Flexible because it allows you to change your Super One numbers as often as every month. Uhm.. for those whose relationships go sour, and a new love comes along, this is by far the best, lol.. Kidding aside, it helps a lot to communicate with different important people and doe snot tie you down to just one. But the best thing is that you can register as many numbers as you want:

How to avail:

For Postpaid/My Fully Loaded Plan, text:

SUPERONE ON to 8888.

For My Super Plan, text:
MY SUPERONE to 8888.

Nothing could be more exciting than the features of Globe Super One but using such features on your very own Android Phone.. Ohlalala!

And like what I mentioned above, this pretty baby could be yours if you join the contest..
Can you imagine all the features of the SUPER ONE on the phone above? If you are interested to win the Super Phone, all you have to do is follow the following:

1. Post an entry on your blog about the question, “Who is your Super ONE and why?”
2. The entry should include a photo OR video of you and YOUR Super ONE.
3. The entry should also include links to this blog post and to the Super One page (that’s http://site.globe.com.ph/web/guest/features/super_one)
4. Leave your blog post URL as a comment on this blog post for us to validate your entry.
5. Deadline of all entries will be on August 8, ONE PM.
6. Entries will be judged according to this criteria:

Uniqueness & Originality – 20%
Theme & Content – 30%
Creativity – 30%
7. The winner will be announced on August 9, 2010!

So if you want it, then all you have to do is blog about it! Go Go Go!

SONA 2010

Below is the Full Transcript of President Benigno Aquino III’s First State of the Nation Address (SONA) at the Session Hall of the House of Representatives as of July 26, 2010:

Speaker Feliciano Belmonte; Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile; Vice President Jejomar Binay; Chief Justice Renato Corona; Former Presidents Fidel Valdez Ramos and Joseph Ejercito Estrada; members of the House of Representatives and the Senate; distinguished members of the diplomatic corps; my fellow workers in government;
GOV’T HAS LONG STRAYED TO THE CROOKED PATH
RP’S PROBLEMS WIDE-RANGING; TRUE STATE OF THE NATION KEPT SECRET FROM THE PUBLIC
ONE DISTRICT IN PAMPANGA GOT P105M; PANGASINAN ONLY GOT P5M FOR 2008 CALAMITY
FUNDS FOR PAMPANGA GIVEN ON ELECTION MONTH, 7 MOS. AFTER “ONDOY”, “PEPENG”

Well, there you have it. Thanks to Mommy Ruby for sharing. This is actually a repost from her. Posting this here for immediate resource for my readers and myself....

A New Car

Car loans can give you the best of both worlds. Style and comfort, as most car owners would say. But then, if you are a new car owner, chances are, you will also be caught in a frenzy of making your car look good as competition will always come knocking, no matter how much you try to avoid it. So, if you for example own a Camaro Chevy, I am sure that you will find a great way to make it more pleasing and trendy. You can perhaps use chevy camaro accessories to enhance its look. Then, it won't just be a new car, but a new car that's hip and trendy.

Ah such is the vision of most car collectors who wish to have people look at what car they have. From the classics to the latest models, it should look more than just presentable. It should look its best. Now, if you are looking to buy car parts and accessories, there's really no place to go but www.carid.com, where one can buy anything and everything where accessories are a major concern.

Like the car above for example.. Don't you think it looks gorgeous?? I just found that image in another site that I forgot to get the link. Imagine seeing such cool surprise parked on your garage, ready for you to use it anytime..

Share And Win JOHNSON´S® Baby Bedtime Products!!!

Share with us your bedtime routine and win JOHNSON´S® Baby Bedtime products!!! (click to join)

Sleep is one of the most important factors in releasing growth hormones, most especially for very young babies. While your baby sleeps, her little body produces 3x more growth hormones.

The good news is there is a way to promote better sleep for your baby: through a consistent nightly bedtime routine.

Learn more about the JOHNSON´S® Baby Bedtime Routine, clinically proven to stretch your baby´s sleep by as much as 23%.

In addition to the JOHNSON´S® Baby Bedtime Routine and products, there are countless other ways you can help your baby fall asleep and even share bonding moments in the process!

Lili and I would always drink milk together before she sleeps. She would always want us to do things together so even if I am not a milk drinker, I have to drink something like juice or water so she can have "the drink" with me, and hers is milk..Then she would have a toast.. and would always say "Cheers Mommy!".  After her milk, she cleans up. By cleaning it means that she and I are in the shower together, but mostly, it's a warm bath after dinner, after a good brushing of teeth. Well, we both enjoy having our baths with Johnson &  Johnson’s baby top to toe wash. Hey, even if I am a mom, I like using Johnson's and Johnson's products for myself too. After drying, we'd both head to the bedroom with our towels on and put on Johnson's Baby Powder for a fresh feeling even while we sleep.. and of course, dub on some Johnson's Baby Cologne. Well, we always like to smell good even while we sleep. I always tell Lili that sleeping and waking should always be treated the same way, for we will never know who will meet. And I guess she agrees with me on that. Because now, it's almost automatic. After a bath, day or night, she would always dub on J & J's cologne.  So anyway, after all the preps, we head off to bed.

In bed, I usually read her her favorite book, and we interact a little bit about it, say our prays and kiss  goodnight. But before she can doze off, she would always want me to rub her back. Actually, she would want it to be scratched, but I am not agreeable with it, so I just end up rubbing her back. And she sleeps anyway..

When I am sure that my baby is asleep, I get off the bed and go back to my work station and work on unfinished tasks. For mommy bloggers, it always helps that kids sleep well at night as that is the time to really concentrate on our tasks. If a child is not comfortable while sleeping, then she or he may wake up in the middle of the night, and that would mean lost time for work because mommies will always put their kids first before anything else. And Johnson's really makes products that helps mommies a lot..
