Thoughts of Bang Lu Min, Survivor of the Quirino Bloodbath 2010

I read this postscript from Facebook and I would like to share this here.

Mr. Mendoza was already upset even before he saw on television what the policemen did to his brother. The other tourists who remained inside the bus were complaining. Wei Ji Jiang wanted to go to the bathroom. Dao Chi Yu was hungry and the rest were just groaning and whining like they have forgotten that our lives rest in Mr. Mendoza's hands. The hostage taker, as you know him was really nice. He treated us okay and even let the elders and the children leave the bus. He said your policemen treated him unfairly. He was a policeman too and was accused of doing something he had no knowledge of. But your government didn't listen so he used us to get everyone's attention. Things would have never turned for the worst if he didn't see how his family was dragged out of their house and taken into custody. He was watching the news all the time as we huddled around each other behind the bus. He shouted some words in your language then started shooting in the air. A girl about my age started screaming. Mr. Mendoza demanded her to stop but she didn't understand English. God, he had to slash her neck with a knife just to put her to rest. Her boyfriend who tried to hit him was shot in the head. Tension was rising. You can see in his face how scared and confused he was. The bus driver ran away leaving him alone with strangers from a distant land. I can see him walking across the aisle, sometimes pointing his machine gun to one of the tourists. But he tried his best not to hurt us, especially those who really cooperate. I guess its in your nature not to inflict pain on others unless it was necessary. I remember him saying that he will free us before sundown and implored us to forget everything when we return home. But his words don't matter now. The policemen were trying to force their way in, while we all lied down to shield ourselves from bullets. Mister Mendoza blindly shoots at his enemies which I think kept them from rescuing us. I hear sobs under the chairs. Some were even shouting the names of their loved ones even when the air merely eat their words. Kevin Tang tried to escape when the glass door was was shattered, but one shot and he slumped on the floor with blood gushing from his mouth. Heavy rain pitter-pattered on the rooftop. In old Chinese saying, it means an end to a struggle. Finally, somebody was able to open the escape hatch at the back of the bus. Freedom. But I knew Mister Mendoza was still alive. I knew he was just waiting for a chance to strike back at his enemies. So I told those around me not to escape. Let the authorities come for us instead. Then there was gunfire. He was firing at his enemies with a machine gun. Those who were at the escape hatch fled abandoning us once again. It's like a nightmare with no end and to wake up means a certain death. Then somebody from outside the bus threw a canister. It forced out a black smoke that is so painful to the eyes and putrid smelling to the nose. People started screaming. We cannot breathe. Some ran in front of the bus but Mister Mendoza warned them of stray bullets. It was too late. One was hit on the head, the other was hit on the shoulders. Bullets were now flying. Its like the authorities thought we were all dead. Mister Mendoza finally admits his mistake and said sorry to everyone, dead or alive. He then ran towards the front of the bus where he would meet his maker. As he passed by my chair with bullets whistling overhead, I clutched my hand on the velvet curtain and wrapped it around my face. All I could think of was to stay alive - for my child who is waiting for me back in Xinjang.

I know I will survive, I will come home.

Hand Bags for Christmas

In my previous post, I did mention that I am looking for a place where I can buy wholesale handbags. And A friend of mine told me of a place where to get them. They even have designer inspired handbags as well as western theme handbags.. I am so excited. I can't wait to visit that said place.

I did visit a place at Cogon where the merchants are Taiwanese. They sell in wholesale too, but their wares are not at all quite nice. They have a wide array of products ranging from home to beauty and clothing as well as accessories. But I wouldn't buy my gifts from there. The place is quite crowded and unsafe. Plus the fact that the Taiwanese merchants act like Gods and the Filipino workers their slaves. It shouldn't be like that. I guess, if we Filipinos have a heart for our fellowmen, we should not patronize places that these Taiwanese and  Korean merchants sell as they enslave our brothers and sisters. Imagine, at 12 noon, they have not had their lunch breaks yet, while their employers are busy eating their sumptuous food. By patronizing them means, we also allow them to step on us Filipinos.

So the handbags that I plan to buy wholesale should NOT be from there.. Period.

Early Christmas Shopping

I am looking for a place where I can buy wholesale handbags, as I plan to give them away as Christmas gifts come December. I have heard of lots of places to buy wholesale western jewelry as well as wholesale flip flops. But hand bags? I am still in search..

Do you have any idea where I could get them really nice but affordable? And please do not point me to places where the Taiwanese are selling. I will NOT buy from them. I have Chinese friends who sell wholesale items but they have stopped doing that said business a long time ago. Of course, there's also the shops and stalls of our Indian friends, but they are already expensive, I would rather buy from the mall.

Anyhow, why this early for Christmas shopping? Well, it is cheaper and not too crowded for shopping. If I buy November and December, prices are already up and many people would be crowding the places to buy gifts.. Inexpensive toys can be found at DD Toys. I tell you, they have really affordable and quality toys that when you find them in the malls are doubled or triple in price. I bought Lili a pink toy violin for P 110.00 and at the mall, it costs P 325.72-- See the difference? Same kind, same brand..

Need Info

Hey guys, have you heard about the Article Alley? A blogger friend of mine told me that we can get free articles for our blogs there. I do not really need to because I personally update my blogs. But he said it is quite useful. They have lots of topics and well, I did check their site and I found the articles to be quite amazing. But still, I wouldn't use them for my site. I think I will share them with my students for their use.

Ready for the Drive

Going on a long drive entails getting the vehicle ready for the long journey.  The driver must make sure that everything is in place. The tires, the rims, the spare, the tools and of course, the engine itself. Most importantly, the driver herself or himself must be ready psychologically, emotionally and spiritually. Nothing could go wrong with a driver that has everything in order. I learned that from my father.

Whenever we go on long trips, I always see how busy my father would be. Preparing for the very trip means getting the cars checked by his mechanic a day or two before the date. On the night before the trip he will check them again and on the very day before we move forward, final checking still goes on. And when everything is in order, that's when we start for our journey.

Of course, depending on our itinerary, we also prepared for our own stuff to bring. And food is the number one necessity that we could never miss, especially on long drives. Now that we have Lili and River, all the more we prepare for kids should never go hungry on the road. Especially if we will go somewhere that does not have much stores along the way..

Nothing beats being prepared..

Saridon

Bookmark and Share

Have you ever used Saridon before? Do you know what it is and what it is used for? Look at this video I found on You Tube...

Now do you know what Saridon is for? Saridon is a pain killer and it is popular in the Visayas and Mindanao areas. It is mostly embraced by the masses for pain, mainly because of  its very affordable price. Although there have already been lots of warnings about the product's side effects from many newspaper columnists, people still buy them. Columnists researched and wrote that Saridon is not safe, and vigilantly cites Saridon's previous formula which contains phenacetin, as well as its new formulation that contains propyphenazone which can have negative side-effects to its users.  Users never stopped using just because these columnists wrote about them that way.  Another point that was cited is the fact that Saridon is only made available in the Visayas and Mindanao. Why is it only available in these areas? That and many other reasons bring about doubt as to the product's thrust.

I learned that Bayer is the company that manufactures Saridon and they have the following said:
“Bayer HealthCare-Consumer Care would like to assure the public that its Paracetamol, Propyphenazone, Caffeine (Saridon Triple Action) is clinically proven safe and effective pain relief against headache, muscle pain and toothache. Saridon Triple Action has been duly approved by the Food and Drug Administration of the Philippines.”
Well, if that is so, then Bayer should disseminate info about the nature and scope, as well as all necessary information about Saridon so everyone will know about it. At least, if their product is really safe, they should have existing data to counter doubts or at least give people the central idea, pros or cons about the product. Even I, who lives here in Mindanao is not familiar with it until I read a few blog posts about it. When I asked friends in Manila if there is Saridon there, all they could answer is also a question of What is Saridon? And well, this post is my attempt to answer that for them.. further research is required..

Peter of Gemini Traffic Sales

This post involves one specific modus operandi, to extort money from victims. The guy in the photo below is PETER.. Peter of Gemini Traffic Sales.. The company he was said to represent. The experience with Peter is not my own but a few friends who finally learned their lesson the hard way..
The photo above was taken before he was arrested by NBI on a take down. Why? Here's the story:

A certain Marivic was recruited first by this Peter and appointed her as the manager for Gemini Traffic Sales in Cagayan de Oro City. And they operate as what was stated in the ad that was posted at www.istorya.net but the kids, or the college students who applied believed her as she was so convincing because that was also what Peter told her.

But, apart from what was written above, Marivic instructed the kiddies what Peter instructed her. To place the amount of  P 600.00  inside the envelopes of their application letter with transcript of records. It was said to be for their medical. Because apparently they will have to pay a specific center to have drug tests taken as well as all other tests and this said center will only charge P 600 for all the expensive tests. So they went through their 20 days training and was told that they will be paid with it together with their after training salaries.

After a month, I was told that all of them, including Marivic, went to the Police Station to file charges and apparently, a take down was done. They were not paid and they were already thinking of what they were told while they applied, that it may be a hoax..

That is Peter after he was arrested.. There is a matching video but I could not upload it..
