The Bag

Treasures can be found in all the most odd places. My friend found a very nice looking northface backpack not at the mall or online, but at the Night Cafe, where ukay bags are sold at very cheap prices. Well, that was ages ago. It was also not that expensive as most ukay sold there. I think the seller didn't know how much the bags costs. Some brands come expensive already, but not that one..

I have found a few treasures there too, but they do not last long. But my friend's bag, even after three years, is still at its very best shape.

My Table

I have just ordered my table for our faculty room. I wanted to buy the one at SM but it will cost me so much for the delivery to our school, so I opted to order from the local makers and they will deliver it in school for the price of the table. No other charges so it made my transaction worth it. They also have other furniture  in case anyone of you are interested. They can also make made to order flat mounts for your home, and offices too. 

I love the fact that the table is also very cheap, but is made of wood and not cardboard lumps that is just painted.

The Friendly Electrolux Man

Oh I remember when I was younger, there was this television advertisement of a man singing, "I'm gonna knock on your door, ring on your bell, knock on your windows too. Come on and open your doors so I can show you more. I'm your friendly Electrolux Man". And I guess that television avertisement just went on for so long that until now, the friendly Electrolux Man is still in memory of people my age, or those who have witnessed the success of Electrolux in the Philippines. I just do not know if the friendly electrolux man also sells electrolux spare parts.

Anyway, I am on the look out for The Friendly Electrolux man as I have some Electrolux products to buy. It is after all free of delivery so it makes it more convenient for me, rather than buying from the mall. I was able to witness some of the maroon colored chaleco worn by the Electrolux people roaming about years ago, but not anymore at this present time. I wonder if the company no longer have agents to render service as the friendly Electrolux man..

Children and Divorce..

Finally, the much awaited dvd has arrived today. And immediately after, I watched it as I have been dying to do so. I applied to get a free dvd of Children and Divorce because I know Lili and I can get something out of it. But I just have to watch it first before she will do so. I need to know that it can be helpful in answering her questions, though she is not really asking me directly. Besides that, I needed to make sure that she will get a positive view of why 2 people separate, and not blame herself for it. Anyway, what I love about the documentary is that the children of divorced parents were able to share their feelings, their hopes and dreams and even their insights and advises to other children who may be going through a hard time while their parents are separating or in the middle of divorce.

As a parent, I recommend to other parents, whether one is divorced or separated or still together with the partner, to let their children watch this documentary or watch this together with their children. In this way, everyone will be able to understand children of separated or divorced parents in their quest for survival from separation. There is so much to learn from the revelations of the children of divorced parents on the video. Your heart will truly ache for the truthful innocent thoughts they have shared...

All I Want For Christmas...

Call me a hypocrite, but what I want for Christmas has nothing to do with what material things I wish to have. Although, I would appreciate very much if someone would give me a pot of gold, or a bottle of my favorite wine, or a serpentine table, or the bottle of perfume that I am eyeing. But then, hey, I can afford to buy them if I put my mind to really getting them. 

What I do want is for me and my colleagues to have a better work environment, for me and my family to have better relations, for everyone that I love to have a happy and progressive future and for me and my daughter to stay stronger in bond and love. It's not the material things that count. But they can somehow give temporary thrills and enjoyment..

Hug Your Children

Today, as I opened my Facebook, I was saddened by what had flooded my screen.. I am saddened by the grim end of the lives of twenty elementary school children and six adults, in Connecticut, USA. Here's a video of President Obama as he addressed the press about it..

My heart aches at this early morning.. One can only imagine the pain of their parents at this time..

Tonight is the night for Doctoring the Law.The Christmas Charity Concert for the benefit of Thrive CDO. It will be held at the Rodelsa Hall of Liceo de Cagayan University in Carmen, Cagayan de Oro City. This is organized and presented by Friends of Thrive CDO, directed by Owen Jaen, and written by Anlyn Baqui. Musical Director is Neil (Francois) Go. Of course, the stars to tonight's show are Samantha S. Tan and Mavy Cooper De Leon... No tickets to buy, just donations of no less than P300.00 that should go a along way.

Watching this show and supporting cureLauncher, are just two ways in which we support cancer advocacy. The latter is designed to advocate for clinical trials and medical research projects to advance this ground-breaking, life-saving research and fund them as well.

YAY! It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas..

And I thought everything is gray and dull.. Yesterday, I got word that we shall all join the fun run tomorrow. My colleague said that there is a memo, and whether we like it or not, we are tasked to go. And we need to PAY. Well, it may just be a small amount, but it will be for something that I do not have the heart, nor the energy of doing. I felt it was unfair because there are only a few of us who are forced to do so, while the others, they may be given other tasks for the weekend, but in return, they also get service credits and they do not have to wake up at 4 in the morning. That is is yet the time for me to start sleeping on weekends, for my freelance online gigs. How can you call something as a fun run if at the very start, it's not fun at all? So yesterday, I came home with a heavy heart. My boss is being unfair and is playing favorites! I felt so downhearted. 

But lo and behold! A package arrived for me, and they were all really nice gifts. 

And this morning, another gift was sent my way. Thanks to the Fairy Hobmother for granting me my wish! Yay!

It is indeed Christmas! I am expecting more positive things and more blessings in the next few days. I pray that those who have survived Typhoon Pablo, shall also see some light as the days turn.

Free Movie Date with Family

Thank you so much e-plus for the treat. My family enjoyed watching the two movies today. I signed all of us for just one movie, but we ended up watching two: Step Up Revolution and Duwaya.. 

We had fun and laughter, and a great experience having the movie house to just a few patrons, but great kicks from the movies.. I guess next year we'll do this again..

No Water Saturday

It's another Saturday with no water. We missed the specific time that water is still flowing abundantly, because of the cold weather today. Our buns were still asleep, hehehe. Anyway, water or no water, we have to take down the linens, clean the jalousies and wash some of the laundry. What a fun Saturday-- struggling with no water at that.

Having no water on a Saturday is quite normal for us. I guess it is because most of the people in our area do their washing on this day. Good thing that after the passing of Typhoon Pablo, water is restored, although it comes during midnight, and in the wee hours of the morning to end only before six.

Wrong Dvd

It's a weekend. Fridays are usually spent by me and my sister here at the apartment with a few movies to watch, preferably Vampire movies and horror movies, with lots of chips, crackers and some drinks. We do this as a breather for our very busy schedules doing our separate tasks on a regular basis. When we could not find movies to watch on cable, it's usually with our downloaded movies as well as the dvds that we could find earlier in the week. Today, however, we found a crazy dvd that isn't what it is supposed to be. We bought a dvd on monsters, but mind you, it was not at all what we paid for. In it, one will find yoga dvds in one. Instead of deciding to return the dvd, we have decided on keeping it, for what it is. Who knows, one day, we could do all the poses on video. hehehe

Posters and More

Last week, my colleagues and I were in Bohol, attending a convention for Values Education. I find it really funny that people, including ourselves, had to take pictures with the posters, tarpaulins and even the stage backdrop as background.

Then there are the photos with supervisors and all other Values Education staff, teachers and bosses in the national level. It was overwhelming, yet humbling at the same time. We learned so much in our three day experience, that we shall treasure for the rest of our careers.

NO To Plastic Bags

In all selling areas, be it the marketplace or the supermarkets, canteens and snack bars, plastic is NOT ALLOWED anymore.  Which is actually very good. Mall shops use paper bags for their products, and most stores have also started using recycled mesh bags, and ecobags. 

I love the idea as it is actually better for our environment. Also, I love the fact that this is now government regulated.

Oh it's Christmas in 34 Days

A few more weeks and Christmas is finally at our doorsteps. I am excited for all the activities and events that we are joining. Plus the friends and family who will be joining us to celebrate. I am also excited for my Christmas loot. Boy, I am feeling like a child again. I hope there will be a bottle of Perry Ellis 18 for me, a patagonia fleece jacket, some bags or purses, and well, anything that is heartily given. I am also excited for our outreach and our feeding program. It will be a first that I am part of the organizing team, so I can not wait for the execution of all our plans.

My office mate is excited as well, as Christmas day is her birthday.
