From the time I was conceived, up until this very hour, my life has always been reflected in music. Seems like in every event, good or bad, there is a song that fits my mood or that a very song is there to recount what just happened in my life. Whew...
So that explains why ever since I was a kid, I just love music. I love to sing and make music. The only problem is, I did not focus on it much. After college, music became simply a vehicle for me to reach out for my self.. The person who is inside the shell... The person who is not who everyone thinks she is... Then, when my best buddy, Glen Borra died, the XU College Glee Club sort of had a reunion of some sort, so with the preparations we had for his interment, we faced music scores and music sheets again, with Odie Señeres taking the place of Prof. Lino Abrio. We were good during that time... but then again, after Glen was buried, we all had to go back to each of our lives, living the selves we have become.

FAST FORWARD:

With the Internet, we, Glee Club Members of Xavier University, are again connected with each other. OMG! We are scattered all over the globe. Odie was inviting me to work in Dubai, as Roy, another glee club alumnus is there already. HE said he is planning to organize a chorale group in Dubai, with all the XU Glee Club Alumni as its founding members. So we searched for the others. There are about eight people already, enough to form a group. The next problem now is where to get the music score and music sheets. I was so sure that I have copies, so I searched but found none. Goodness, I had those music sheets when we were still in college. But mind you, I consider them a treasure because they are the original pieces Prof. Abrio and Father Cuna have arranged from the pieces created by Philippine Music greats. I tried so hard but I really couldn't find any. Must be in the boxes. Without knowing where they have gone, I asked help from Mr. Google and found a site where we can actually get music scores and music pieces that we can use. Distance Learning

My sister is in Manila right now to get a course on Theater or Drama or Acting, whichever comes first. She is a very good actress and a definite thespian: heart, mind and body. She breathes theater like it's the only thing that she can live for. Whew.. Well, she has the talent, so let her be. She is not only good in the craft, she is also a very good trainer with a passion to transform the world of theater and educate the new generation, helping them develop a taste for culture and the arts through theater.

Before she left, I always asked her if she could simply enrol in a distance learning course. That way she stays here in Cagayan de Oro and still be able to get a degree in it. As I already checked available schools offering online classes for their distance learning program. That is easier because we have the Internet connection. But of course, there is the traditional distance learning process where learning materials are sent to the learner's address so with examination papers and all other necessary documents. The learner learns on his or her own pace without ever leaving home.

But then again, on my sister's part, she was given an opportunity to work also in the same setting, which could help her very much when she leaves for Singapore for her TTRP scholarship to start... Oh well, it's all up to the learner. wink..wink...

RANK 1! PRAISE THE LORD...

I am not supposed to blog about this yet, but I am really very happy about the news "The Insider" has sent me just tonight. I received the best news at a time when I am feeling low and experiencing one of life's great jokes...But the news is not a joke, that I should know. My source is indeed very reliable. It said that I ranked 1 on the recent teachers' ranking which I participated this summer.. OMG! My prayer is answered. That means a better life ahead. A better future for Zarelle... well, technically, that is... But like what I said, I have a good GOD who will set everything right as they should... I am hoping for more Good things to come in the next few days... I have given the wheel to God. I am simply driving in autopilot now... Everything for HIS greater glory...AMEN....

AND THE LIGHT WAS GOOD...

I love chandeliers. That for me is the best home lighting accessory ever made. In choosing lighting fixtures, we should be aware that they have to be functional rather than focusing only on the aesthetic. Take for instance, installing bathroom light fixtures. They should be as they should be. Not too bright, not dimmed as they serve the purpose of lighting an important part of our life. I can not imagine going inside a bathroom with soft pink lights. How am I able to see what I am doing if that is the case? Oh, and what about when you are in a kitchen where kitchen light fixtures are in soft blue tones? How are you able to cook your regular meals that way? lol...

See, our ceiling light fixtures add beauty in our homes. Where they are placed, how they look at the right angle, and how much light they give affects the home environment. Maybe, if you wish to use soft tones, they can be placed in the living room or the bedroom. It is in this very way that light fixtures should be used, in order to add life and not just life to the home. If you know where they should be placed, what colors they should go, then you are good to go.

DANGER AT THE NEW BRIDGE...

I was on a multi cab bound for Balulang two days ago, and this yellow one was parked side by side the one I was on. Being seated at the front, I was able to hear, and join in the conversation between him and the driver of that multi cab I was on... The driver of this yellow cab said that at exactly 10 o'clock in the morning, two days ago, three young men rode his multicab and took all his earnings and the belongings of his passengers. HOLD UP??? AT 10 IN THE MORNING??? UGH!!!
They were picked up outside the building of the Bigby's corporate Office, and when the multi can turned the curve of the new Ysalina Bridge, that was when the crime happened...

They went down unnoticed as there were no other vehicles that passed nor any one in authority that monitored the said incident...

Poor driver.. poor passengers.. Everything taken from them without a fight... Then, after lunch it was on the news... whew... what a news... It was late for two hours... Anyway, I just want to say that we should all be very careful, even in broad daylight. With the current financial crisis, anything could happen. Specially because not everybody can think positively in a negative situation... And worst, there are really some people who just wants an easy way out of poverty...

A PUPPET SHOW WITH A TWIST

Yesterday, I went to Camaman-an again and when I was to go home, I passed by the Basketball court (again). There I saw that Greggy's Goodies have set up a puppet show at the stage for the kids in the area. It was a wonderful show that the kids enjoyed. Unknown to them, having such a show would actually cost a fortune, and they were given the privilege to see it for free.

What I specifically like is that, the puppet show comes with a good message and a moral lesson. What better way to educate the kids and build on values formation...

VENDING MACHINES

When I lived in Manila for almost two years, my life was dependent on the Vending Machines that surrounded me. Sure, I often go to the mall, I do my groceries, and yes Seven Eleven is in every corner, but the thing is, I find it convenient to simply go downstairs and buy my favorite Cola and chips from the vending machines available. I can even buy tissue or sanitary pads in a vending machine without going anywhere else. Oh, and we even have a sandwich and coffee vending machines in the area. No need to walk towards any of the convenient stores which are on every corner of our block. Well, the area I lived in is a commercial area mixed with residential and industrial set ups. So I guess the Vending Machine Business is really very feasible there because of the many patrons of the vending machines. No hassle, no worries, no extra effort. A Vending Machine is truly lifesaving, if you ask me.

Yesterday I cashed in my paypal earnings and got them thru EON at the Union Bank. My daughter asked me to buy her favorite cake, Choco Buttercreme and Egg Pie from Goldilocks so I did... She really knows that whenever earnings would come from blogging, mommy buys her what she likes... lol... hmmm, I'd like to think that giving that as an incentive for Lili is a good deal. See, whenever she is cross or would act naughtily, I would reprimand her saying that mommy will not blog anymore.

My blog, like its subtitle is indeed my form of therapy...

LOVE A MUSTANG! WANNA HAVE ONE?

My friend Lucas has a passion for cars. His first car was an assembled one. Assembled? Yes, assembled. His dad is a mechanic and his knowledge in anything mechanical have grown on him by the mere sight of his dad's humble job. So both he and his dad assembled his first car on weekends until it was done. The style is rather unique so everybody wanted to know how to get one. Of course, Lucas, now earning a bigger salary, looks forward to having another great masterpiece for everyone to behold. Only this time, he wants something really BIG to hit his garage. He has always wanted a Mustang, but found it too difficult to acquire. He resorted to buying an old one to restore, with the desire to make it look better. So he started buying the many different parts starting with Mustang Headlights, then he bought next the Mustang Tail Lights, until he was able to buy a few more parts including the Mustang Grilles. Technically, the restoration has not started yet, but he is hoping it will soon start. He just needs some more of the missing parts. For Lucas, buying the parts is cheaper rather than buying the whole. Buying a new one is quite impossible also.

Way to go, Lucas....

THE PHILADELPHIA UNIVERSITY IN JORDAN

Anyone interested to enroll in a university would know how much it costs these days. And usually, because of stiff competition, universities draw their own campaigns with the help of crowds of fans and alumni to generate more students to enroll. However, if the university we are talking about have already their names on a pedestal with their pool of successful graduates, like the Philadelphia University in Jordan, for instance, it is no longer a necessity to compete. Because students will be coming anyway. Just like here in Cagayan de Oro City, many universities have sprouted, but not one of them can outlast, out perform and out number the successful graduates of my alma matter, Xavier University-Ateneo de Cagayan. The quality of the school is in the quality of its graduates. Am sure, graduates of Philadelphia University-Jordan would agree with me on that.

Anyway, my Jordanian friend, Amillah, told me that they have a very good cs(College of Science) there. That surely is good to know. In fact, my friend says she is going to study there in the coming school year. The school boasts of the best facilities for their students, and the best Professors in the land. Oh and the panoramic view of the school is indeed something to look forward to. I love the view even if I am only seeing them in pictures at their website, I can already imagine how beautiful the place looks... Having a good view is helpful in learning.

After attending the Blogging 101 Workshop conducted by our group, CDO Bloggers, I am now able to identify what an seo blog is and how it is different from a business blog. Since the topics discussed centered on how to create a blog, how to maintain a blog and how to make money with the blog created, I am now more confident to make money and get paid for my hard work.

It is truly a very big help knowing the SEO part of the workshop. Imagine, I kept wondering and praying for PRs to get high, but I am not hitting it right. Now, I can do more than that. I can calculate, I can put the correct keywords that could help for my blog to raise traffic, I can set up a good package for the blog and make it look better. And best thing is, I can now think clearly as to how to make it a better blog. I understand now that I have to find a niche, and build on that. I can even make a business out of it by promoting a business or two. Amazing huh? Gosh. And I thought it is limited to just enrolling in third party companies. Hmm..

Well, a single mom just have to do anything and everything to survive... And thank you LORD for the Internet. It surely is helpful.

A NURSE ON A SCOOTER?

I have posted an earlier entry about the online magazine for nurse,Scrubs, which is in itself a very good source of information and inspiration, not only for those in the Nursing profession but I guess it is applicable for all. Well, we can all be nurses right? For as long as we have the willingness and determination to help others heal and walk towards a better life through good health practices. My aunts, cousins and even my sister are in the Nursing profession. When one is sick in our clan, we do not worry because we are assured of a nurse to take care of us. However, my mom, who is not a nurse, but, a teacher by profession, also gives the best care as a nurse should. Well, regardless of the profession, if the heart is willing, then anyone can be a nurse...

Nursing, by profession is humbling and life saving. But to a nurse, I am pretty sure, it is life changing. When we deal with death or a near death situation affecting others, and when we do not know what to do about it, we end up on our knees to pray. Helping others realize the inevitable, at the same time helping others move on and heal psychologically, emotionally, even spiritually. Chances are, if tragedy strikes others, a nurse is the willing companion. She or he is there for the patient. But what happens when the tragedy will strike and hit the nurse herself. Let's say for example, not being able to hear anymore, or not being able to walk anymore... Should the nurse simply give up nursing? How can the rest of the nursing community help a fellow nurse in need of healing? When disability strikes, it is not only the physical aspect of a person that is in question parallel to the nursing profession. But mostly, the psychological and emotional as well. However, if a nurse with disability will be given a chance to go back to work as a nurse despite the disability, I am pretty sure that it will make the nurse feel better about the world and about herself. Nothing is ever more frustrating than not being able to do the things that you are used to do, especially when you know you do it well. In the US, this problem is not so much of a problem because of the disability act that supports nurse with disability. They can still function with the help of gadgets and the cooperation of the people in her/his environment. So I wouldn't be surprised that a nurse in a hospital will do her rounds on a scooter. Inspiring right? As an advocate for Special Education, I do believe that students with disability should be allowed to take up nursing. They should not be treated differently because in one way or another, they can still be able to function as equally as that person without any disability.

See, whenever we go out to eat or go somewhere to enjoy a scenery or watch anything and everything within sight, she would be the one to remind me to take a picture or two, for my blog/s... lol.. Well, she knows that every $$$ sent to my paypal account is eventually for her to enjoy... Oh, she enjoys looking at herself in my blogs, she loves her "work" (like the photo above) featured in my blog/s... I think it gives her satisfaction... Well, like what I told you in my previous posts, my three year is like a forty year old trapped in a three year old's body... lol...

My Brother, The Cowboy... The Bullrider...

My brother has always been sporty. He started out with basketball, then wall climbing, then the cowboy games such as bull riding, bull wrestling, bulldogging and all others. In whatever sport he seems to excel. In the house he has trophies and all other proofs of his sporty nature. The latest I saw are the ones below. I have not seen them before mainly because he has kept them unseen, and locked up in his room. Now, my mother placed them with the rest of the other family members' trophies and plaques of appreciation...

He's gone to many places just to compete. Not only here in Mindanao, but also in Luzon and the Visayas... and when he comes home, he brought with him the said goodies..

Earlier this afternoon I attended my first ever meeting with CDO Bloggers. Quite informally though. I wore my CDO Bloggers Tee shirt and I brought in a guest. Well, there were supposedly 2 but my cousin stood me up and went to Midway with another cousin. Hmmm.. It's okay. She missed a lot from the workshop, and I learned something more about the blogging business... Oh, and I met the rest of the guys who I am only able to communicate with through plurk...

Anyway, I will blog more about this when I am done uploading the pictures.. okay?

SCRUBS

My sister, Sweet, is a licensed teacher who was supposed to be teaching in the Public school last school year, but have decided to go back to Nursing School and pursue her dream of becoming a Nurse. Now on her third year, she has become so busy with all the requirements that we seldom see each other. One time when she came here at the orange house to go online, and while she was browsing many clinical sites for her project, she showed me a site, Scrubs, that is unique. It talks about the lifestyle of nurses, a very inspiring site indeed. It is uplifting, positive, fun, warm, direct, timely and gives nurses a whole new dimension in the career they have chosen. I like the tips and the "Nurse of the Week" part of the online magazine. Funny, I could have been a nurse too if I did not stop. The site reminded me of the humble profession, Nursing. And there's also the part of the online magazine, "The Scrubbies" that is really good in boosting morale for Nurses. Here's why...

The Scrubbies allows you to give out an award or two for a particular Nurse or Nursing Student who deserves the said award/s. Like my sister, Sweet, I am giving her the award because I know she will be one of the best in the said profession. She has already proven that many times by the way she cares for my parents at home. Monitoring their blood pressure, and all the vital signs when necessary, reminding my parents when to take their medication and all others. It's like having our personal nurse at home. Congratulations...

Before Lili got sick, she attended our graduation rites at Our Lady of Fatima Therapeutic Foundation Clinic. I think it was the food that she ate at the venue, The Lighthouse, that caused her sickness. Not that the food was bad, it's just that she may not have chewed on them before she swallowed.. You know what I mean? Dyspepsia...That's one angle, Dr. Garay told me...

Anyway, that is our house help, Bissa Saldo during her graduation... She graduated with Honors.. 4th Place.. Congratulations Bissa... we are proud of you...

While Zarelle was at the hospital, Lazar and I were discussing about health insurance. We still have not finalized the choice so when she was hospitalized, only Philhealth was availed. Daddy Came...

When you are a kid, and you are not feeling well, nothing is ever comfortable than seeing both your parents in the room where you are recovering, and they are both in tune with the universe....

Daddy arrived at 10:45 pm because of the heavy rainfall. I asked him to bring water because I was the only one there and I could not ask anyone else to buy water for us. Before he arrived Lili was already looking for him asking me if daddy is really coming. He informed me earlier that he will be coming... so he did. We were already ready for bed, Lili, having been able to nap earlier in the afternoon, did not want to sleep yet. She was waiting for daddy... She was seated on her bed with the head arched to allow her to sit, watching her favorite channel, 53-Playhouse Disney, when he arrived. Funny how things were. As if we are not going to see each other again on May 26 for our hearing. Well, we put that aside and we were a family while Lili was healing herself. She was already very sleepy when I asked her if she wanted to sleep. And although she still protested, she simply obeyed... we had to tell her that she needs to rest. And so she did...

So we started talking again.. laughing and filling out the missing pieces of our lives like nothing is really wrong. We talked about Lili's condition, how everything is, what is going on and some of the important things cleared. I felt light hearted and I am not angry with him while he was there. Of course, didn't I tell you guys that I have moved on? And of course, we talked about the case. We also talked about "plans"... well, we have to deal with the case first before the "plans".. They are not what you are thinking guys.. Just want to clear those up.. We have plans for Lili... That is all for now.

When he left, I knew it's a new beginning... Has Bataan fallen? Not really, but our pride and ego surely did... We're friends again...

ON LOANS.

In this day and age, I do not believe that there is any person who do not have a loan. The rich may have lots of money but sometimes, it is the rich that even has a bigger loan compared with the poor. The Picture

Lili was really relaxed when she was hospitalized. Part of the reason probably was this picture that hung in her room. The same one, only smaller, could be found at the ER. It was what she kept looking at while her IV was placed. And in her room, she kept telling me how beautiful the picture is.
She added that she wants to go "there", wherever that is...

Oh well, I am just happy that at a very young age, she already has a thing for beautiful pictures....

Electrician Please...

Everything was so colorful, then after a long pause came total darkness.. That's what happened when the commercial center in Cogon Market was eaten by fire three month ago. Reports said that it was due to faulty wiring. Come to think of it, an electrician's job is really important to avoid mishaps such as that. It helps to know the electrician before any contract should be executed. Yeah, it is really important, unless of course you would like to waste money and the property in general.

Faulty wiring is usually a reason for fires in the commercial areas to occur. Well, not only in commercial spaces but also in the homes. LAST NAME MIX UP..

A person's last name gives a ring to the ear every time it is given importance or mispronounced or misspelled. But how would you feel if your last name is changed?

It is really funny because previously, I thought of changing Zarelle's last name into mine, but with what happened when she was at the hospital, I decided to retain it. I feel that her last name is part of her identity. It would not be fair if I change it.

The last name in Lili's chart was not only misspelled, worst, it was changed. The person who wrote on the chart and on the white board at the nurse's station was the culprit. He was probably very tired while writing it down. From Villanzana, it became Villalanzana. When I asked it to be corrected, it became Villaranza..lol... The meal tray during meals also have the said corrections... Then the last mistake before it was finally correct was Villanueva...lol... I went to the nurse's station seven times just to make sure nothing could go wrong with my Philhealth claim parallel to the name written on the charts... Thank God it was corrected...

Ed's Job..

Ed's job is very important for him. When he was still single, he usually goes home late. As late as 3 in the morning. He was the chief of the Database Development Department of his company. When he married his soon to be ex-wife, he resigned and they moved in Manila. There, he was given a better offer and he worked with a higher pay. After that company, he was given another better offer. This time he works for one of the country's top call center and he is handling the same department. Sometimes he boasts of all the free vacations and trainings outside the country. And I can't blame him for boasting because this is the first time that a company has taken him really seriously. This company has really seen his potential. Well, that's what Ed told me. Aside from his 8 hour job, he also does consulting work for every small company that hires his services in private. So that explains the expensive gifts he sends... My friend has really made something for himself.

One time I asked him about the kind of work he does at the database development center and he simply explained in the manner I would understand. Of course, they wouldn't be able to make it if they do not have the tools of their trade, such as the Filemaker Pro and all other soft wares used to keep up with Database Services. Hmm.. It is rather complicated. And I salute Ed being very good in his field...

Anyway, want to know the secret why I was able to understand Ed's explanation, even if they seemed vague to me? I went to www.productivecomputing.com, and three other sites that tackles database development. The other two sites were vague and I found their site less appealing. It was at www.productivecomputing.com that I understood fully well what Ed was trying to explain to me, hehehe... Am I a cheater? No, I just did my part and researched.. lol...

COMPLETE BLOOD COUNT

The attendant at the ER told me that they have already taken some blood sample for Lili's CBC. But on the night of our admission, the lab technician came up and took blood samples again. She said there was no blood sample yet for Zarelle. So this is how it happened.

Look at my little girl. She was not afraid. Other kids her age would have cried and called for mommy to hold them, but Lili simply smiled while I took the picture... lol...

Does it look painful? Lili said "NO"..

Anyway, here is the only food that sustained her in the afternoon, one she ate before she took her nap. That's the special "lugaw" (porridge) at Tapsi Time. It had eggs, meatballs and chives. Lili liked it, but she was not able to finish everything because her tummy wouldn't take it. I hope they served it half the size. We threw away the spoiled porridge in the evening. My P 50.00 gone to waste. But it's okay, at least my Lili ate something before she went through the process of CBC sampling.

After that, she slept while waiting for our special visitor...

WHY I JOINED ACOBAY...

I joined ACOBAY because of their Pet network, Auto network, Movie network, and Book network. Hmmm, what exactly am I talking about here? For those of you who have not signed up yet, better do that now. Do you get a better picture now? Anyway, some would say that ACOBAY is a review site. Just to correct that notion, it is NOT. But, because you get to talk to people and you communicate with people about your stuff, how much they cost and what you like about them, chances are, each and every member that communicates through the channel are similarly comparing notes or personal reviews of each of their belongings. This is actually very good. Because of this sharing in this social network site, people will learn so many things and somehow be forewarned should there be products that really needs attention.

People in the pet network get to share ideas on how to "care" and "train" pets. And the best part, people in the said network get to compare tips on where to buy pet needs like accessories, food and other stuff. Same goes for all the other networks I joined. AT THE EMERGENCY ROOM...

This is my brave little girl at the emergency room before admission to the hospital... See, she could still smile and pose for the camera.... This was taken after her IV was placed and before she was about to go to her room (513 at the newly extended fifth floor, where rooms cost more than the ones at the 3rd floor, although they are the same...hospital claims that new rooms should be more expensive than the old overused rooms, lol..)

Then we were given the admission kit and I requested the ever useful urinal and bedpan...

I was given the plastic cups for her stool and urine samples for the tests....
