NANAY PURIE'S BIRTHDAY & 40 DAYS...

We had lunch at Divine Shepherd today. Nanay Purie's birthday follows Lola Viating's, which was yesterday... and 40 days after her death... we met the family again. They looked better than during the wake and burial... Thank God they have already recovered from mourning. We talked about the good things and the similarities between the two sisters, Lola Viating and Nanay Purie.. How they shared the passion for writing and for keeping everything organized. How they shared the sensibilities and the grace for which they have been so well known for. The two sisters... how they have lived their lives affecting the other people around them... How they have nurtured each and everyone with their gifts... and of course, how blessed we are for having them as part of our lives...

It is good to know that their legacy will go on with the children and the grand children... the new generation of Viatings and Puritas....

Thank you Lord for such blessing...

DRIVING IN SYDNEY AUSTRALIA

My cousin Izza married an Australian guy, Quin, a very loving and supportive husband, five years ago, and they are happily living in Sydney, Australia now. Two years ago, she gave birth to a bouncing baby boy, Elijah Thomas, and took care of him until her mom, my Aunt Eve, was sent by her to help take care of the baby. Her husband then asked her to learn driving, which she did, and had herself enrolled at one of the driving schools in Sydney, Australia.

She is already done with driving lessons here in the Philippines, but she has to learn to drive again in Australia. Hmmm... What's the difference then? Hehehe, probably the roads??? Kidding, kidding--- lol... Anyway, my cousin said she is excited to know the results, and what her husband is trying to get her after she gets her Australian driver's license... I could only imagine what it is... lol... Go Izza... Go!!!

BEING A MOTHER

After 21 years of marriage, my wife wanted me to take another woman out to dinner and a movie.. She said, 'I love you, but I know this other woman loves you and would Love to spend some time with you.'

The other woman that my wife wanted me to visit was my Mother, who has been a widow for 19 years, but the demands of my work and my three children had made it possible to visit her only occasionally.

That night I called to invite her to go out for dinner and a movie.. 'What's wrong, are you well,' she asked? My mother is the type of woman who suspects that a late night call or a surprise invitation is a sign of bad news. 'I thought that it would be pleasant to spend some time with you,' I responded 'just the two of us.' She thought about it for a moment, and then said, 'I would like that very much.'

That Friday after work, as I drove over to pick her up I was a bit nervous. When I arrived at her house, I noticed that she, too, seemed to be nervous about our date. She waited in the door with her coat on. She had curled her hair and was wearing the dress that she had worn to celebrate her last wedding anniversary. She smiled from a face that was as radiant as an angel's. I told my friends that I was going to go out with my son, and they were impressed,' she said, as she got into the car. 'They can't wait to hear about our meeting.'

We went to a restaurant that, although not elegant, was very nice and cozy. My mother took my arm as if she were the First Lady. After we sat down, I had to read the menu. Her eyes could only read large print. Half-way through the entrees, I lifted my eyes and saw Mother sitting there staring at me. A nostalgic smile was on her lips. 'It was I who used to have to read the menu when you were small,' she said. 'Then it's time that you relax and let me return the favour, I responded. During the dinner, we had an agreeable conversation nothing extraordinary but catching up on recent events of each other's life. We talked so much that we missed the movie. As we arrived at her house later, she said, 'I'll go out with you again, but only if you let me
invite you.' I agreed. 

'How was your dinner date?' asked my wife when I got home. 'Very nice, much more so than I could have imagined,' I answered.

A few days later, my mother died of a massive heart attack. It happened so suddenly that I didn't have a chance to do anything for her. Sometime later, I received an envelope with a copy of a restaurant receipt from the same place Mother and I had dined. An attached note said: 'I paid this bill in advance. I wasn't sure  that I could be there; but, nevertheless, I paid for two plates - one for you and the other for your wife. You will never know what that night meant for
me. 'I love you,  son'

At that moment, I understood the importance of saying in time: 'I love YOU' and to give our loved ones the time that they deserve. Nothing in life is more important than your family. Give them the time they deserve, because these things cannot be put off till some 'other' time.

Somebody said it takes about six weeks to get back to normal after you've had a baby.... somebody doesn't know that once you're a mother, 'normal' is history..

Somebody said you can't love the second child as much as you love the first... somebody doesn't have two or more children.

Somebody said the hardest part of being a mother is labor and delivery....somebody never watched her 'baby' get on the bus for the first day of kindergarten... or on a plane headed for military 'boot camp.'

Somebody said a Mother can stop worrying after her child gets married... somebody doesn't know that marriage adds a new son or daughter-in-law to a mother's heartstrings.

Somebody said a mother's job is done when her last child leaves home... somebody never had grandchildren..

Somebody said your mother knows you love her, so you don't need to tell her... somebody isn't a mother.

Knowing How to Use Cutlery is Important...

When I was yet working with CPDC, or better known as Center for Personality Development and Communication,we had a great time traveling places for our workshops and seminars. Of course, since my topics go first, I am lucky to be able to listen and sit in during the succeeding lessons. I was already exposed to the modules but it is simply different if you have a good trainer in front of you. And with that, I am lucky because CPDC's owner and trainer is very good indeed. It was with the lessons on poise matched with fine dining that I learned that cutlery is an art in itself, at the same time, knowing its use is a whole new process of exuding poise and confidence. I found it quite interesting that whenever Sam would call for an assistant to bring in the silver, I would volunteer, if only to see them clearer than ever. During workshops in far off places, we use sterling silver cutlery because they are more handy and economical should they get lost in the travel. But, if the lessons were to be conducted at the center, Sam would call for the silver...and I mean silver cutlery. It was a whole new experience every time...

Hmmm... why am I in recall mode again? Well, it's because I saw fine cutlery at www.arthurprice.com. Seeing them reminds me of how much fun we had during my days as a trainer at CPDC... Such an experience I will treasure for the rest of my life... I really enjoyed it. Traveling, talking, teaching, more talks, lol... and being in front of my students... I guess I am really cut for that job... Because I miss it so much...

DEMOLAY IS A YEAR OLDER TOO...

My brothers in the order of Demolay are celebrating...not my birthday, lol, but the founding anniversary of their order. I was 11 years old when I first met a Demolay. He was nice. After I was initiated into the International Order of Job's Daughters, that is when I saw what it means to have brothers and sisters in the order. The Demolay brothers here in the Philippines, who, I have come to know are dear to me in the sense that they will really take care of you as a sister. For twenty two years now, our friendship and bond remains strong. Although we do not see each other anymore but whenever problems come, I call a brother or two to help me out and they are immediately there. A Demolay will never fail you... I know that by experience... So to all my wonderful brothers around the world...

Turning A Year Older...

Everyday now, since I transferred to MOGCHS, my life is becoming more and more one and in piece. My then student and colleague at Marymount, James U. commented that since my transfer, I have become lighter and exudes an aura of peace.. and glowing too. Hahaha... Well, he is definitely right. I take that as a sign that I am finally seeing the light. That I am finally getting the veil off my self... I am no longer in hiding as I am now ready to face the world again.

I thank the people who are around me, especially my Aunt Irma, for always reminding me that I am beautiful despite what have happened, and for being ever supportive. And now, I am coming out again. I remember, after the pregnancy I hit rock bottom. It was like I was there but I wasn't.. Like I am alive but part of me is dead... Like, I willed to survive but deep down I knew I was drowning... I needed a way out but everywhere I went, I was locked in... Swimming the currents proved to be difficult...

MOGCHS gave me the chance to set foot on a different world, different it may seem, but familiar... The challenges keep me awake and make me want to swim in the vast ocean again... this time, I know where I am going.... It isn't about me being a single mom here. It is about me being a teacher, and I strive to be good at it, which evidently flows naturally, hahaha... Anyway, the doors are now open for me, and Zarelle will eventually have what she deserves... By the will of God, this is it... I hope...

Tomorrow, I am turning a year older... The signs are everywhere... I thank God for this new life...new beginning... new hope...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TISHA FAYE PERMALAN

When I was a freshman in college, I belonged to a group of 5 barkadas... Me, Gigi, Matet, Chummy and Tisha Faye. We were all beautiful, bwahahaha... seriously, we were all beautiful and talented... Music, fashion, sports, food, etc... those were the group's interests. We usually hang out at Cora Chum's house, and we eat, sleep, talk, dance and be simply crazy-- the fun way. Among the 4, Tisha was the closest to me. She would confide so much about her life and aspirations and there were those times that we end up crying and laughing over the mundane and the funny things about ourselves. We were crazy, hahaha... When I realized that Psychology was my passion and not PT, I left the school and transferred to XU. My world changed and so did the barkada's. We saw each other from time to time, until we got so tied up with our own busy worlds...

One day, a classmate, Madelaine Tiro, who was working at Dunkin Donuts at that time, told me that Tisha died. I thought she was joking but eventually I realized she was not. She gave me directions and the schedule of Tisha's interment and everything else... So the next day, after my final exam, I went straight to Bukidnon. Unfortunately, I was not able to see anything. Not a trace... When I got down bus, Matet met me and she said it was done. Everybody went home already... So I asked her why no one informed me. And she said she did not know that I did not know... I went straight to Ella's and asked her to accompany me to the cemetery... And there before me was a wreath that had a ribbon that said "Condolence to the family of the late Tisha Faye Permalan"... and that's the only time I felt I have lost my friend... who I have not seen for such a very long time.

My mind was full of questions at that time. Questions that even until today are not answered. Tish was my backbone. The anchor when I felt my world shake, my avid fan when I joined singing competitions, and my pseudo-mother, when I feel my mom and I are not okay... I always cry my heart out when I feel down and she always finds ways to comfort me...I saw her as someone stronger, yet, how come she committed suicide? There were so many times I thought she was okay, but then again, she was not... I miss her terribly. But my heart knows that somehow, someday, we will meet again... and we'll have pizza and root beer...

Dearest, Happy birthday. I always remember your smile.. and your laughter... and your twinkling eyes... Haay naku Twinkle (her nickname is Twinkle), not having seen the last days of your life keeps my memory of you fresh as the day you first introduced yourself in class, with all the smiles, and when you sat down, you asked me for my name... and then we became friends and talking and laughing buddies... Do you know that Mr. Sumalpong is now a lawyer? Ahahaha... I know that you know that by now... You are a great lady, do you know that? I love you, wherever you are, and I will forever cherish our friendship...

Finally, I AM LETTING GO---

These past few days, I have been contemplating, soul searching and did so much thinking... mathematically that is... I wanted so much to keep the old business address and simply have it converted to a store or a mini grocers or anything that would somehow be of value... but no matter how much I try to imagine it, I would be working hard only to pay off the bills... tsk.. tsk... tsk... not a very good idea indeed... It is enough that the learning laboratory have had marketing coverage and people have already inquired about our offerings. But quite frankly, our clients in the city are paying more than the clients and would be clients here in Balulang, so it does not really matter much about the location. I have clients because my clients were satisfied with what they got. And by word of mouth, I am simply adding one client after another. That is a good sign, isn't it? When a client is on vacation for the summer, then a new client takes the slot... God is really good to me and Lili... He knows our needs and unselfishly gives more than I could ask for...

Anyway, what I will be keeping is the learning laboratory. In short, we will be moving the business to a new location--- The Orange House... At least there, I can have the classroom, the computers and all... with our own comfort room and Lili can sleep in the afternoons, should she stay at Honeysweet for Kidz Learning (starfall.com). I would then be saving a whole lot of money as I will simply be maintaining one venue and simply one set of bills... Plus, it is right at our very home, Lili's and mine...

Letting go of the old place is really difficult, but I think it will help much financially. So too, since daddy was never able to visit the orange house, then we will be starting fresh, Lili and I. At least there, there won't be much to remember about daddy's visits. Therefore, there would be nothing to talk about. End of story.

I just want all the bad things erased. Or simply put, forgotten! It will be over soon. As they say, endings are beginnings of beautiful things... And as I promised Zarelle, daddy and daddy's family may not be welcoming, but a new daddy will be, so with his family. In the mean time, she is secure in the thought that the people who loves her can not be counted by just counting her fingers in her two hands... The people who loves her are more than how much she can count... And that is my family, the entire Aguilar and Mordeno Clans... So I was thinking, perhaps it's best that we drop her last name after the case is done.. What for? What's the point of bringing the family name of the family who from the start never cared for her??? What the hell for??? Someday, when my daughter's achievements take her places and build her her name, I do not want to imagine that all glory and honor will be given to the family who never even wanted my Zarelle to have a decent life and a good education... Why on earth was the birth certificate signed when the person who signed it did not even want to share in the responsibility, right?

Whew... I am not angry... in fact, none of all emotions are present now... I am calm and I don't give a damn about the people on the other side anymore. What they think and what they will do won't matter anymore. I am already numb from all the shame and pain they have caused me and my daughter. I just want this over with with... Just like Honeysweet Learning Center, our lives will soon be parked at the right space... No more obstructions and no more extra fees... I have paid my dues more than how much they are worth... This time, I just want what's necessary. Similar to flying an air balloon, if I want to soar higher, I just have to drop excess baggage... because soaring higher is not just for myself, rather, it is for my Zarelle's future... That is the part that the people on the other side do not really understand...

Not understanding things lead to cruel generalizations, and uncalled for reactions... Sometimes, the hurt and the insults go so deep, that even apologies could not do anything to change things....Consequently, adding up to the unwavering chaos are other people's selfish motives that prevent others to think for themselves, as they are dictated by other people's shallow interpretations and disguised intentions. Like what I said in my previous post, none of this could have happened if people were nicer and kinder to others.

I need not think about this anymore... As my friend Ninin once said, "sa umaabot nga panahon, makita ra nato ang linug-dangan aning tanan"... (Someday, we will all see everything clearly...)

One day I decided to quit...

I quit my job, my relationship, my spirituality. .. I wanted to quit my life.
I went to the woods to have one last talk with God. 
'God', I asked, 'Can you give me one good reason not to quit?'
His answer surprised me...
'Look around', He said. 'Do you see the fern and the bamboo?' 
'Yes', I replied.
'When I planted the fern and the bamboo seeds, I took very good care of them. 
I gave them light. 
I gave them water. 
The fern quickly grew from the earth. 
Its brilliant green covered the floor. 
Yet nothing came from the bamboo seed. But I did not quit on the bamboo.
In the second year the Fern grew more vibrant and plentiful.
And again, nothing came from the bamboo seed. But I did not quit on the bamboo. He said.
'In year three there was still nothing from the bamboo seed. 
But I would not quit.
In year four, again, there was nothing from the bamboo seed. I would
not quit.' He said.
'Then in the fifth year a tiny sprout emerged from the earth. Compared
to the fern it was seemingly small and insignificant. .But just 6
months later the bamboo rose to over 100 feet tall.
It had spent the five years growing roots. Those roots made it strong and gave it what it needed to survive.
I would not give any of my creations a challenge it could not handle.'
He asked me. 'Did you know, my child, that all this time you have been struggling, you have actually been growing roots'. 
'I would not quit on the bamboo. 
I will never quit on you.'
'Don't compare yourself to others.' 
He said. 
'The bamboo had adifferent Purpose than the fern. 
Yet they both make the forest beautiful.'
'Your time will come', God said to me. 
'You will rise high'
'How high should I rise?' 
I asked.
'How high will the bamboo rise?' He asked in return...
'As high as it can?' I questioned.
'Yes.' He said, 'Give me glory by rising as high as you can.'
I left the forest and brought back this story. 
I hope these words can help you see that God will never give up on you.
Never, Never, Never Give up.

My mother just turned 57 today.. Happy birthday Nanay, we love you...

And since my parents were married on the day of my mother's birthday, they are celebrating their 34th wedding anniversary today too.

The photo was taken two years ago when we greeted them at exactly 12:01 midnight this same day...

The five of us (Me, Sweetie, Honey, Playboy and River) are lucky to have parents like them. My father, the ever hard working padre de pamilya, and my mother, the ever loyal and thrifty, budget conscious mom who never fails us in all our needs... I pray that we be given more time to spend with them...

THE HOUSE NEAR THE RIVER...

Lili and I did this sometime last year. While waiting for daddy to arrive. Sadly, he never came... The house near the river is Lili's own idea. I never told her about it. She was the one who told me what we should paint using watercolors...

Seems that everyday we take the ride going to the city and back, as the jeepney would  pass by the river and she sees houses by the river banks, gave her an idea that living near the river is exciting. She said she wants us to live near the river so she can see fishes everyday... hmm... As if she is not contented with the fishes we have at the yellow house... but then again, I think she is referring to a different kind of fish...

Rheumatoid Arthritis

People say that Rheumatoid Arthritis is only felt or experienced when people reach the prime of their lives... At an age where the tissues suffer already and disintegrates. Contrary to that however, I could say that it comes at any age. See, my sister Sweet and I have experienced RA even at our tender years....College-- the time when teenagers should be enjoying all the stuff a college student should be enjoying. But of course, we have had our share of the good old college life. It was not really that bad, except when the weather is cold and RA attacks... But during ordinary times, we were like the usual teenagers buzzing about in the fields..hehehe... and I mean really buzz around... It was fun.

There were times however that the pain could go unbearably to the point that fisting is so hard to do, as the spasm and the gnawing pain is really so much to take. Luckily, my grandfather, Lolo Ninong, who was still alive at that time is a herbalist. He would let us drink tea, one which he himself prepared, and allows for us to relax. He then would get hold of both hands, the left and the right.. and apply massage techniques while continuously applying a concoction he prepared composed of coconut oil and alcohol with all the other herbs he mixed. And then the swelling would go away and relaxation follows. Now that Lolo Ninong is gone, and his concoctions already empty, my sister and I still apply massage techniques but find it difficult to do so until we discovered Reflexology. Hey, it's not so bad. It helps really...and you can actually apply self massage for your hands and feet.

I am not taking any medication as I do not believe in medication. I believe in herbal medicine though. (I only take medicine when I have no choioce but to take it. )Much more with natural and spiritual healing. But maybe, if I were differently motivated, I would be taking medications for my RA, such as Celebrex, Prednisone, D-MARDS (Plaquenil, Arava, MTX, azulfidine), Humira, Enbrel, Orencia or Remicade. The only medicine I have taken in relation to RA is a pain reliever, but that was when I did not have time to do self massage. The time I was in a hurry, that thinking about the pain was a hindrance to what I was trying to finish at that time--- my thesis. And because I was busy, I did not have time to react to the pain nor complain about it. I knew it was there. That it came, but a dose of the pain reliever and I was done with acknowledging the pain. It was psychological at that instant, so I simply ignored the pain and went on with my usual activity. When I was done, that's when I realized the pain never left. Whew.. darn pain relievers did not work... ahahaha...

Hmmm, perhaps my way of combating RA is rather unique. I do not wish to compete with medical or drug companies, but perhaps people suffering from RA should try herbal medication and natural/spiritual healing. If I should invite people, like making my own commercial, I would say.."RA, Think of it more, the more it will stay! Healing RA is all a matter of choice. Ask and You shall Receive...

Lately, I have been getting harassment texts... Don't ask who they are from, coz the numbers are unkown to me.  They're somehow related to what I am fighting for now. 

Oh well, if these people wish me to stop the fight, they simply have to ask. From the very beginning, even before matters were brought to where it is currently at, texts of this sort have already flooded my phone. Perhaps the reason was to drive me mad, or make me angry or perhaps, they think it will change my mind...

Contrary to what they have expected, what they have done only brought me to my senses and the radical me fell in place. Anyway, I do not really like what's going on. If only these people were open minded enough to realize what the point of the matter is all about, it could not have come to this... 

If only people were more responsible for their actions and more giving rather than be obviously materialistic... And worst part is, the responsibility was signed and therefore, it should have been executed... but everything was left like a commitment signed in air and water...

These people changed their attitude when I started asking for the responsibility to be put to action... When I was not yet asking for the turk's share, everybody liked me and always said, "Salamat sa pagsabot" (Thank you for understanding)... now, everybody hates me ands says "hilas kaayo ka, dili ka angayan magfile file ug kaso!!!" (You are damn too boastful. You are not fit to file a case!)... Oh well... I have no intention of pleasing everybody... I just want what's right... and please... marriage is not part of this game... that is really a lame excuse you know... So this people may hit me anyway, anywhere and everwhere, I don't mind... so, deadma, kiber (as if nothing is going on...)!!!

Like what I said, if responsibility was faced squarely and people were simply open minded enough, nothing of this sort could have happened... 

I pray that all will end the way it should, according to God's plan... whew... Justice shall prevail...

Of Ants and Nannies...

Lili had been bitten by ants once. The bite marks really made me go crazy. I had to fire the nanny for not taking care of my little girl. She was busy watching her afternoon telenovela that she forgot about the kids, Lili and River, who were then playing by the grotto, where ant mounds were found.

Good thing my father was there and he took care of the bite marks. He applied first aid and calmed my baby down till she quietly fell asleep. When I arrived I gave the nanny a piece of my mind, gave her her last pay and sent her home. If I did not do that, perhaps I would have pulled her hair or cut them. She was ultimately, the most irresponsible person that walked the planet!!! Geez... I trusted my daughter in her keeping and what did she do? I did not pay her to simply enjoy those telenovelas!!!

Whew... Anyway, thank God the nanny we have now is better and there are no more ant mounds in the grotto area... 

FIRST HONOR

Yesterday was the culmination of our Reflexology Workshop. Us therapists, along with those who took the Caregiving and Nursing Workshops conducted by Our Lady of Fatima Therapeutic Foundation Clinic were gathered at the Lighthouse Restaurant for the said culmination. There were 48 Therapists and Caregivers who took the stage with all pride and excitement as we finally received our certificates. There were five batches for the said graduation and I belong to the fifth batch. And guess what? I received an award. hahaha.. First Honor! Whew... I do not really take pride in it because you see, there are just two of us in our batch.. hahaha... But hey, it's still an award for which credentials matter... so Thanks Vong.. All hard work really paid off...

Her Looks...

This is my Aunt Irma. She is probably the reason why Lili is very pretty. When I was pregnant with Lili, I was always angry with her for no apparent reason. And she, not having known that I was pregnant at that time, wondered why I was always "ulitan" (irritable) when I am with them.

I remember before, I always told Aunt Irma that if I get pregnant, I would like my daughter to look like PINKY, my cousin, Aunt Irma's daughter, who is a complete copy of her when she was her age... In other words, utterly gorgeous... Of course, Lili has the Abrogueña genes, the Aguilar's, as well as the Dela Torre's... so that explains why my daughter is always said to look like a daughter of a "foreigner"... Hehehe... I always get asked about her Dad's nationality... If only these people would see that he is very PINOY... lol...

Well, that does not really matter now anyway.. People, even if they ask about her dad, will never see her dad anymore... that's for sure...

"I WANT TO BE A GIRL"

This afternoon, we finished "Show and Tell".. I am so happy to say that most of my students are talented. And despite the fact that some of them are from families with a background of financial difficulty, their spirits are whole and their faith unwavered. I like that. At least with everything they experience they are still positive about life. Although, I must tell you, there are still others who think that their lives are wasted and that they have no reason to live. Tsk..Tsk..

This is where we teachers need to come in.. So far, my topics in Values are somehow doing a little to get the change going.. I hope I will leave these kids with a sense of purpose and awareness of what they are capable of... I always point out to them that their possibilities are endless... That anything is possible with hard work and determination, we will all succeed...

The class was a bit serious... then when a gay student of mine came to the front with his poster for the show and tell, I was really amazed at what he said. He told the class, "I want to be a girl. That's my ultimate dream. When I graduate and earn my own money, I will fulfill this dream."

Hey... Anything is possible... and all of us are entitled to dream... So Dins... goodluck...

PUNK CHAT

Alvin, our butcher friend and neighbor has a secret life...lol... He is a PUNK! A what? A PUNK..hmm... is he really??? ACNE CLEANSER

Need a solution to skin care problems? I found a new product online today. It's a very good Acne cleanser. I never really had any intension of looking for a product of this sort, but what caught my fancy was a student of mine who complained of pimples on her face and on her body that hurts so much.

I told her that if it's just ordinary pimples, it wouldn't hurt that way. So, with this desire to help, I searched for solutions. I found out that with  LEXLI Pure Aloe, it will simply take 3 weeks to 3 months depending on the severity of the problem.

NATIONAL ACHIEVEMENT TEST PROCTOR

Today I had to wake up early. I was up as early as 3 in the morning. Whew... Had to take a bath despite the cold shower. Dressed myself, made myself look pleasant and headed for the jeepney station. I thought of taking a taxi from Balulang to Tagoloan National High School, but when I got to the station, no taxi was available. Luckily, a multi cab passed by and I hopped on. When I reached National Bookstore, I took a cab. I reached Tagoloan National High School and I became poorer by P 180.00, lol...but I arrived 45 minutes before the expected time, so no problem with the cost. And since I arrived second, I was given Room #2 for my room assignment. We started the exam 8:15, finished at 2 in the afternoon. I was dead tired and yawning, but I guess I was able to survive the day...

It was a different experience compared with proctoring a psychological exam, which I have been accustomed to. And the students taking the exams are quite different too. Anyway, I have pictures of today's activity but my PC is not allowing me to upload the pics.. will try again later... Visit this post back for updates...

FEELING SAFE...

From the time I was able to ride a bike, a motorcycle or a car, there are only four people who have made me feel safe during the ride. Whether it's a fast drive or a slow turn, I do not feel like dying the moment we reach the next curve.

Why am I in RECALL MODE? Well, for a week now, I have been going home through a single motor. It is known to many here in Cagayan de Oro as "habal-habal"... from Cathedral to Balulang, it will cost P 30.00, and I can go home fast. No more waiting for the multicab to be full and move. The drivers are careful but I am not exactly comfortable riding with strangers. Soon enough, the guys have become familiar and friendly but still, I do not feel safe. I silently pray during the ride, for God to keep us safe, the driver and I, as a little girl awaits my coming home.

I love my little girl... and since I am the only surviving parent she will ever know... I can't DIE now... NOT YET anyway... Dear God, please hear this prayer...

BIKES FOR LILI AND RIVER

My baby brother and my daughter wants a new bike for each of them. The old bike is pink and lilac in color and made for a two year old. They are now four and three respectively. They both want a more serious bike. lol, kids their age think they are grown ups already. hehehe... One time, we looked for the best bike for each of them. We have even brought them to a cycle store for them to choose their own bikes. What color they each prefer, what size and what design...whew... and believe me, I could almost imagine how they will be choosing their wheels when they're older... One time at SM, River said aloud that the bike Lili chose is not nice enough, hahaha... kids really are smarter now a days. If it was me, I would have simply chosen one and accept my parent's verdict without hesitation. But Lili opposed River as if it means a matter of life and death, lol... And she told him, "I will be riding that bike, not you! Choose your own bike for you to ride Kuya River, so we can ride bikes alongside each other." OMG!!! I did not know what to say. The mother fell silent... zipped my mouth that instant...

Anyway, since we are still unable to make the final decision, we have postponed the bike buying spree for another weekend. I then asked each of them what they think about biking. If they are really ready for another kind of bike. Or if they can handle the new bikes once bought. As usual, they have outsmarted me when they both said that they will ride the bike and find out afterwards. Whew....

So here I am in horrific imaginings. The bike my daughter wants is taller than her. I guess I need to learn a few things about biking, if I am to supervise biking activities for two eager bikers. And of course, what better way to learn these things but online. Mr. Google gave me a few links and of course I surveyed each. Then, I came upon a site that has everything I needed to learn. Biking is fun and enjoyable, but for kids, I think it is more about the accomplishment of being able to ride. As for me, my only memory of biking is when Uncle Eric taught me how to ride his bike at the quadrangle, back in the good old days of the Barracks, in Butuan City. I was afraid and excited at the same time. I did not fall though... Oh well, I was safe with Uncle Eric there. That is the same feeling I would like the kids to have when we have our biking sessions-- the feeling of being safe with Mommy around.

BEAUTY...BEAUTY... AND THE PRICE TO PAY...

I have a classmate in high school who is already very pretty and intelligent too. But when we were in College, another classmate told me that she had a part of her face made...Hmm, I do not see anything wrong with that part but I never noticed either, after the surgery was done, and she faced all of us, it was like nothing was new. She was the same as before...as if she did not go through surgery. As if nothing ever changed in her looks. All I knew was that summer, she went to the US for a vacation, and that's it. Lucky for this classmate of mine, they are rich. They can simply go abroad for a change or an enhancement of a body part. And since her family can afford, she can definitely scout for the best and not worry about anything. 

Another friend of mine however, had her nose injected. No surgery was involved, but she had to go through Saline Injection for a year. The doctor handling her was said to have worked in a clinic in the US but is now practising here in Cagayan de Oro. Unfortunately, all of us who she told about the said beauty enhancement do not believe that her doctor is the right choice for the job. As my friend have experienced soaring of her nose ridge. REFLEXOLOGY 101

Today, I had my first lessons in reflexology techniques. I am learning reflexology for the purpose that I may be able to help my father in his fight for his health. And true enough, my one hour and a half session today is not wasted. Surely, I have learned something and will be able to apply it onwards.

Reflexology is one massage technique that uses not only the points, but energy as well. This is healing that is similar to pranic healing. Energy IN, energy OUT... But how the healer's energy passes is by means the way of healing... It was tiresome at first, but once you get the hang of it, you will enjoy it...

This is also my way of relieving myself of stress. Putting my energy to good use. Learning reflexology is nice. It is very much helpful in the home, especially for curing minor ailments that require immediate attention.
