Golodomor

Do you want to know the truth about holodomor of 1932-1933? The unbiased information and facts about the "mass hunger" or in other term used, "great hunger" in the Soviet Union?

Scholars who studied about the "Golodomor" estimate about 6-8 million peasant deaths during the famine of 1932-1933. They are from Central Russia (2 million), Kazakhstan (1.7 million), Ukraine(1.3 million) and North Caucasus (1 million).

There have also been other issues raised about it and some even suspect it to be genocide, although that is also contradicted by some accounts. So why am I blogging about this now? I just saw Schindler's List again for the Nth time already and I am reminded of how cruel greediness of power can make other people suffer. Although, I have only met "Golodomor" through Mr. Google today, it saddens me how much the lives and situations are similar. I remember when I was in college, we underwent an immersion program to feel how it was like to be poor and live in the hinterlands. It was awful but the experience I think has made me a better person to realize the importance of living simply so other people may live. However, the case with Holodomor and Schindler's List are way different. Even if you wont undergo immersion, you can already feel how people suffered by reading or watching the scenes in a movie, as if you are taken to that very era where survival counts most but is difficult to attain...

I thank God everyday for the kind of life I live. Sometimes it is complicated, and it may not be perfect, but I am alive surrounded by the love and warmth of loved ones, family and friends...
